The 2023-24 Oregon high school girls basketball season is two weeks old and the Class 6A contenders are starting to emerge.

Clackamas is clearly the frontrunner as the defending state champions return almost everyone and are ranked No. 25 in the country in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25. The Cavaliers are ranked No. 1 in the latest Oregon 6A coaches poll, followed closely by No. 2 Benson.

Willamette, South Medford and Jefferson round out the top 5 in the poll, with Jesuit at No. 6 and Tualatin at No. 7. The Timberwolves are coming off an impressive 54-35 road victory over No. 9 Cleveland where senior forward Jaylyn Arosemena exploded for 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.

No. 8 McMinnville, No. 9 Cleveland and No. 10 Southridge all moved into the poll this week after impressive starts to their seasons. McMinnville hosts Benson on Saturday night in one of the best games on the schedule this weekend.

The 6A coaches poll is compiled by Jesuit coach Jason Lowery.
