The Oregon high school girls soccer playoffs continued Tuesday. Here are some of the highlights and top performers from the second day of matches.

CLASS 6A

Jesuit 3, North Medford 0

Kammy McClennan had two goals and an assist, and the Crusaders (16-0) held North Medford without a shot on goal in notching their 35th consecutive win.

McClennan assisted on Riley Jeffries’ opening goal in the 11th minute, then scored off assists from Natalie Webber and Ana Kubiaczyk. Keepers Zoe Anderson and Laura Butorac each played a half in Jesuit’s 13th shutout of the season.

West Linn 1, Forest Grove 0 

Cassidy Harding scored one minute into the second half off a corner kick from Kylee Shreck, lifting the Lions (12-2-2) to a rematch with Jesuit of last year’s 6A state final in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Harding has 17 goals this season. Nyamma Nelson made three saves to record her 11th clean sheet of the season. 

Mountainside 1, Lake Oswego 0 (SO)

Claire Oetker, Natalie Yamaguchi, Katelyn Wallace and Taylar Danielson made their spot kicks during the shootout as the 12th-seeded Mavericks (10-3-3) won at Lake Oswego to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since they reached the 2019 final. Olivia Albers made two saves for Mountainside.

Cleveland 1, Central Catholic 0

Eleanor Cohen’s first-half goal stood up as the winner, and the Warriors (13-1-3) received a solid performance from the back line — led by senior Jaiyden Richter — to advance to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.

Grant 5, South Medford 0

Nailani Solomon opened the scoring with two goals in the first eight minutes, then completed her hat trick four minutes after halftime to lift the PIL champion Generals (14-2-1) to the home win. They will play Sheldon (13-1-2), a 3-1 winner over Sherwood, in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Abbie Day added a goal and two assists, and Kate Ratanaptoeksa scored three minutes before halftime to give Grant a 4-0 lead going to the break. Maggie McGair, Paige Nakada and Bella Bohne also had assists.

Lincoln 4, Sprague 0

Sophomore Zienna Black had a brace, and Alana Harry added a goal and an assist as the Cardinals (14-2-1) reached the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.

“Zienna had her biggest night of the season,” Lincoln coach Lainey Hulsizer said. 

Sunset 2, Westview 0

Ellie Felt had a goal and an assist, and Mikayla Williams made three saves in recording a clean sheet as the Apollos (11-3-2) advanced to the quarterfinals for the third consecutive year. 

Kella Folkerts scored Sunset’s first goal five minutes before halftime, and Felt’s goal in the 63rd minute came off assists from Caitlyn Turner and Anya Dubois. 

CLASS 5A

Wilsonville 7, West Albany 0

Cal-Berkeley commit Kenley Whitaker had four goals and an assist, and Camryn Schaan added a goal and an assist as the host Wildcats (13-2) continued their quest for a third consecutive state title by posting their ninth shutout.

Bri Crane and Ashlyn Ring also scored for Wilsonville, and Caroline de La Motte had two assists.

The Bulldogs (6-7-2) start four freshmen, including keeper Lola Christensen, who made several important saves to keep the mercy rule from coming into play.

“Our young team is looking forward to next year and coming back stronger,” said West Albany coach Erin Jamison.

Canby 1, Corvallis 0

McKenzie Bigej has had a big week for the Cougars. After winning the NWOC district cross country title Wednesday, she helped lead them to victory in their first playoff appearance since 2018 with what coach Dallas Hill called “her best game of the season.”

Bigej’s sister, Madi, posted her sixth shutout of the season, and Ava Schreffler scored her second goal of the season with seven minutes remaining to lift Canby (7-3-6) to the road win.

Summit 6, Ashland 0

The Storm (8-5-2) dominated possession to post a first-round home win.

Ashland (8-5-3) will return all but two players, said Grizzlies coach Aidan Jones, “and for most of the team, it was their first playoffs. They had a positive experience and played really well considering.”

La Salle Prep 5, Mountain View 1

Julia Hoesly’s 23rd-minute goal snapped a 1-1 tie, and Lilly Erving and Sydney Spotts had two goals apiece as the Falcons (11-3-2) earned their sixth consecutive win.

North Eugene 2, Putnam 0

Senior Hannah Smyth’s unassisted goal with seven minutes remaining broke a scoreless deadlock, and she assisted on freshman Payton Buschelman’s clinching goal five minutes later as the Highlanders (12-2-1) pulled out a first-round home win.

Silverton 3, Thurston 1 

Karissa Stemper-Bolf, Kai Buckley and Allison Mansur scored for the Foxes (8-5-2), who traveled to Springfield and knocked off the sixth-seeded Colts. Ella Ulich made 10 saves for Silverton, which will travel to North Eugene for Saturday’s quarterfinal.

Kielyn Ruhl scored Thurston’s goal in the 58th minute off an assist from Macy Taylor.

The other quarterfinal matches a couple of league champions as Caldera (12-1-3), which beat Crater 1-0, plays host to Crescent Valley (10-2-3), last year’s runner-up which beat Hillsboro 4-0. 

CLASS 4A

Marist Catholic 6, Astoria 0 

University of Oregon commit Cloe Chase had a hat trick to give her 50 goals for the season, and she added her 18th assist to help the defending champion Spartans (15-0-1) cruise to the first-round home win.

Chase has 116 goals and 40 assists for her career, moving her to a tie for sixth on the all-time state goals list. Her 50 goals rank fourth on the single-season list.

Freshman Libby McLoughlin added a goal and an assist, giving her 25 for the season (No. 2 on the state’s single-season list). Sadey Woodrum and Ella Braunger also scored, and Gina Schroffner had two assists as Marist Catholic ran its unbeaten streak to 32 games.

Gladstone 1, Henley 0

The Gladiators (11-4) traveled to Klamath Falls and knocked off the Skyline Conference champion Hornets on the strength of Tori Vera’s unassisted goal in the 66th minute.

Philomath 3, Molalla 1

Kamilla Grimmer had a hand in all three Philomath goals, assisting on Bailey Bell’s 13th-minute goal, then converting a penalty right before halftime and a free kick in the 63rd minute to lift the Warriors (13-2) to the first-round home win.

Hidden Valley 1, Ontario 0

Garcelyn DaVault took a pass from Aja Lapan and scored her fourth goal of the season in the 24th minute, lifting the host Mustangs (11-1-3) to the home win.

North Marion 1, Crook County 0

Victoria Valenzuela scored a 14th-minute goal off an assist by Cailie Lader, and the Huskies (12-3) made it stand up in posting their ninth shutout of the season in a first-round home win.

Huskies coach Ben Bonser credited Cowgirls keeper Paige Stewart with keeping her team in the game as Crook County was making its first state playoff appearance in the program’s 31-year history.

The Dalles 2, Newport 0

Ariana Gonzalez scored in the 24th minute off an assist from Lilyana Gonzalez, and Natalia Elias added an insurance goal from the penalty spot with four minutes left to lift the Riverhawks (10-2-2) to the first-round home win. Keeper Olivia Prado earned her team’s fifth shutout of the season.

Scappoose 6, Pendleton 1

Senior midfielder Alice Davidson, a University of Hawaii at Manoa commit, had a hat trick, and Claire Dubois, Mia Hurliman and Lilly Parral also scored for Scappoose (14-1), which allowed only one shot on goal and remained undefeated at home.

Scappoose will play host to North Bend (10-4-1), which won 1-0 at Greater Oregon League champion La Grande, in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

CLASS 3A/2A/1A

Banks 2, Yamhill-Carlton 1

Olivia Bunke scored her 11th goal of the season in the 53rd minute, then assisted on Malia Stewart’s goal seven minutes later as Banks (9-3-2) traveled down Highway 47 and posted a second-round win.

Maddy Tuning scored in the 70th minute for the host Tigers, and Bryason Conway made 12 saves. Teagan Henderson made seven saves for Banks, including two one-on-one stops to preserve the win and send the team to a quarterfinal matchup with defending champion Valley Catholic (14-0), which beat Pleasant Hill 4-0.

St. Mary’s (Medford) 4, Four Rivers 1

The Crusaders (12-2-1) made the 10-hour bus ride to Ontario a fruitful one, as they overcame an early 1-0 deficit to oust the Special District 5 champion. Kendal Yazzolino converted a 17th-minute penalty to tie the score, and Bella Mussio scored the go-ahead goal six minutes before halftime.

Carys Chamberland’s 39th-minute goal made it 3-1 at the break before Yazzolino scored her second goal five minutes from the finish. St. Mary’s coach Martin Nelson credited freshman defensive midfielder Elsa Lee with a standout game for a defense that “was able to clean up most opportunities going forward, and after the first 10 minutes shut down every chance except one.”

Sisters 8, Salem Academy 0

Ella Davis and Marley Holden scored two goals apiece, and the Special District 3 champion Outlaws (15-1) cruised to the first-round home win.

Amity 2, Oregon Episcopal 1

Adie Nisly and Ayla Harris scored, and Kylie Wilson made a great foot save to deflect a potential tying goal in the second half to help lift the Special District 2 champion Warriors (15-1-1) to the second-round home win.

“OES was a tough opponent,” Amity coach Andrew Dyer said. “Very technically sound team.”

North Valley 2, Central Linn 1

Maddison Mockridge’s 15th goal of the season off an assist by Olivia Smith in the 55th minute capped the Knights’ comeback, and Ashlyn Godfrey made four saves to preserve their second-round home win. The Special District 4 champions improved to 12-1-2.

The Cobras led 1-0 at halftime on a 10th-minute penalty kick by Addie Wolff. Smith tied the score six minutes into the second half, converting a penalty.

Creswell 3, Sutherlin 1 

Dakota Carson recorded a brace, and twin sister Tailey scored Creswell’s third goal as the Bulldogs (13-3) traveled south and knocked off Special District 4 runner-up Sutherlin.

Mila Nguyen, Chloe McBee and Elliette Kinney had assists for the visitors, and Kylie Leonard made 17 saves as they held Paige Edmunson (110 career goals) scoreless. Creswell coach Dan Smathers credited senior Lauren Bailey with leading the defensive effort.

Catlin Gabel 8, Brookings-Harbor 0

Annika Sirtori, Campbell Swaim and Addi Dauler scored two goals apiece, and the Eagles (13-1-2) continued their bid at making an eighth consecutive 3A/2A/1A final appearance by rolling past the Bruins in Southwest Portland

Alana Hill added a goal and two assists, and Abby Greenspan also scored for Catlin Gabel, which scored all eight goals in the first 30 minutes. 

“We came out flying to open our playoff campaign,” Eagles coach Chris Dorough said. “Truly team soccer to start the playoffs.”
