Oregon’s top high school girls soccer players: Meet the state’s best goalkeepers

GK Zoe Anderson, Jesuit, junior
The Crusaders have three keepers who could start for just about any team in the state, and depending on matchups, coach Steve Fennah might go with any of them. It was Anderson who started the 6A state final — one of 14 games she played in last year, when she allowed one goal all season. “It didn’t start that way, but as the year went on, she became our No. 1 keeper with her ability to deal with high balls and crosses,” Fennah said.
GK Lloy Bartolotti, Cleveland, junior
Bartolotti made the varsity as a freshman but took her game up a level last season, when she made the all-PIL second team with eight shutouts — including two in the playoffs as the Warriors reached the quarterfinals for the first time since 2017. Her teammates voted her captain, and she made several big saves in a season-opening win at Beaverton.
GK Jasmine Brown, Wilsonville, senior
Brown was a two-time state champion last school year, posting nine clean sheets to help the Wildcats successfully defend their 5A title on the soccer field, then becoming the school's first state wrestling champion in February, winning the 6A/5A 170-pound division. “Jasmine is a fearless keeper who gives everything she's got on the pitch,” coach Alex Boehm said.
GK Paige Everson, Valley Catholic, senior
First-year Valiants coach Chris Thurley considers Everson “Oregon’s best-kept secret” despite her outsized role in backstopping the team to last year’s 3A/2A/1A state title, posting 10 shutouts and allowing just 17 goals in 18 matches. “A fabulous goalkeeper, she has a wonderful passion but also possesses the skills to play in goal at the next level,” Thurley said.
GK Ashlyn Godfrey, North Valley, senior
Godfrey has drawn interest from several small colleges after a junior season during which she posted three shutouts and saved two penalties among what Knights coach Paul Williams classified as 30 “key” saves during the team's run to the 3A/2A/1A state semifinals — all while battling a high ankle sprain and bone bruise that caused her to miss five games. “One of the most driven players I've ever coached,” Williams said of his four-year starter. “An excellent shot stopper due to her reflexes and extension when diving. Rarely beaten 1v1.”
GK Maya Hawks, Tigard, senior
Hawks posted seven shutouts last season, including five in Three Rivers League play, and earned first-team all-league honors. Tigers coach Scott Eggleston called her “a solid goalkeeper who always seems to raise her level of play when needed.”
GK Teagan Henderson, Banks, junior
Henderson played a leading role in Banks rebounding from a three-win season in 2021 to eight victories and a second-round spot in the 3A/2A/1A state playoffs last year. She played every minute and posted six shutouts — including a 2-0 win over Riverside for the program’s first playoff win since 2014 — in earning all-state honorable mention. Henderson also will kick for the Banks football team this fall.
GK Lyndie Isaacson, La Grande, senior
Isaacson last season had eight shutouts and allowed just nine goals in 15 games in earning all-Greater Oregon League first-team honors, leading the Tigers to a league title and a spot in the 4A state quarterfinals. “Lyndie is a very athletic keeper, fearless and skilled with the ball at her feet,” coach Chris Gianandrea said. “She also has a very fun personality and truly always has fun and is smiling while playing.”
GK Noely Luna Ramirez, South Salem, senior
Luna Ramirez, a starter in the midfield for the Saxons a year ago, has the unenviable task of taking over for graduated Central Valley Conference player of the year and SBLive Oregon third-team all-state keeper Maggie Lapray. “Noely is ready for her chance in goal,” coach Tillerman Kroon said. “She is an excellent shot stopper and distributor, and as one of our captains this season, she leads us with her high work rate and positive attitude.”
GK Devon Mason, St. Helens, sophomore
Mason entered the program as a freshman last year and made an immediate difference, recording four shutouts and allowing just 16 goals in 12 games (the Lions gave up 50 in 14 games the previous season) before missing the final couple of weeks with a knee injury. Coach Angela Nichols, who remembered coaching Mason at the U8 and U9 levels, also used her occasionally as a striker, where she had two goals and two assists. In addition, the football program picked her up to placekick Friday nights. “She really held her own as a keeper last year,” Nichols said.
GK Gabriella Montes, Thurston, junior
Montes made the all-Midwestern League second team at midfielder last season, but Colts coach Benton Canaga shifted her to goalkeeper this year. He recognizes it's a change for her, but he noted, “Gaby lives for the moments she can dive and make a save.”
GK Nyamma Nelson, West Linn, junior
Nelson backstopped a stingy Lions defense that didn't allow more than one goal in any game last season — and six in all along with 12 clean sheets — and earned all-Three Rivers League honorable mention.
GK Charlotte Overton, Sherwood, senior
Overton was an all-Pacific Conference honorable mention pick as a junior, when she posted four shutouts for the conference champion. She sustained a slight injury playing for her club over the summer, but Bowmen coach Karl Granlund said “she has had a strong start after coming back. She's a vocal and talented goalkeeper that will really help us.”
GK Lyla Perry, Beaverton, sophomore
Perry stepped into the shoes of graduated keeper Brielle Fernando, who backstopped the Beavers to their first 6A title-game appearance, and acquitted herself well as a freshman, finishing with seven shutouts and making the all-Metro League honorable mention list. Coach Jennifer Kirwan noted how “she has improved a lot from last year. She's good in the air and very explosive off her line.”
GK Kenadie Reese, Estacada, junior
Reese made the all-Tri-Valley Conference second team last season, posting two shutouts and helping the Rangers reach the 4A play-in round. “Kenadie is so bold and aggressive,” coach Summer Jark said. “She is extremely vocal and cares about all her teammates.”
GK Zoraya Santana, Ontario, senior
Santana plays center back for her club team but moves between the goalposts for the Tigers, where she made the all-Greater Oregon League second team last season. “She has amazing hands and puts herself in good position to block shots,” coach Javier Gonzalez said.
GK Kassidy Waibel, Barlow, junior
Waibel stepped into the starting role in net last season and posted eight shutouts, allowing just 12 goals in 17 games in making the all-Mt. Hood Conference second team. She has interest from Seattle Pacific and Portland State. “She definitely has grown and gotten a lot wiser after getting that experience in goal,” Bruins coach Jay Jacobsen said.
