The Oregon high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 31 — 41 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Oregon will give you one significant number per day.

41

The longest league winning streak by a Class 4A, 5A or 6A team contained entirely in the past 10 seasons is 41 games.

Jesuit of Southwest Portland has that distinction as the winner of 41 consecutive Metro League games. The streak began in Week 1 of 2013 and lasted through Week 3 of 2019. The next week, the Crusaders lost 42-41 in overtime against Aloha.

According to MaxPreps, Jesuit also won its final two Metro League games of 2012, which would put the league winning streak at 43 games.

Forty-three games is also the length of the Mt. Hood Conference win streak Central Catholic crafted from 2009 to 2017. The Rams’ run began after a loss at Centennial on Sept. 25, 2009, and the streak ended Oct. 7, 2016, with a loss … at Centennial.
