Gabe is a four-year varsity letterman in football and track at Lake Oswego High School. He has been named 1st team All-State as running back for two years and 2nd team All-State defensive back. Gabe finished his senior regular season with 22 touchdowns and 1,365 all-purpose yards. He started both ways for Lake Oswego. As a defensive back, Gabe gave up just one touchdown catch his entire senior season. Gabe moved from tailback to slot and the wildcat quarterback on offense every game. Per Prep Redzone, “There is very little that Olvera didn't do over the course of his career. Taking everything into account, he was potentially the most productive athlete statewide at the 6A level.” Coaches mention his elusiveness, speed and vision as a package and hard to contain. “It’s hard to get a direct hit on Gabe and his durability along with his no quit attitude that will translate to the next level.” Gabe looks forward to continuing his football career at Valparaiso University while also earning a degree in biology. He carries a 3.6 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. Off the field, Gabe enjoys water sports with his family and friends, playing board and card games during legendary family game nights, traveling during breaks and volunteering at his local church or delivering meals to the homeless within his community.
