Oklahoma high school boys basketball Top 25 rankings (1/10/2024)

Edmond North, Owasso lead the way at No. 1 and 2, respectively

The basketball season is nearing the halfway mark and several teams are hitting their strides to prepare for a state tournament run.

There are some unbeaten teams, and some teams have lost games to high quality opponents, either in the regular season or in some holiday tournaments.

Here is this week's SBLive Oklahoma Top 25 boys basketball rankings.

Note: Rankings and records are from games through Jan. 10.

1. Edmond North (9-0)

The Huskies won the Tournament of Champions in Tulsa by beating Owasso by double digits in the championship game. Edmond North took care of business last week at Moore, winning 67-51. Edmond North has scored more than 50 points in all of its games and is not likely to change that anytime soon.

2. Owasso (10-2)

Owasso has one of the country's best wing players in Jalen Montonati. Owasso’s two losses came to Edmond North and Fayetteville (Ark.) in tournaments. But the Rams beat Bartlesville by half a hundred this week and beat Dale in the TOC semifinals off a buzzer beater by Montonati, who scored 40 points in that game.

3. Dale (17-2)

The Pirates have played a bevy of games this season and their two losses came in tournaments, like Owasso. Dale handled Jones and Preston in its last two games, who both are ranked in their respective classes. Dayton Forsythe, the Oklahoma signee, scored 22 points against Jones, which put him in the 2,000-point club.

4. OKC Crossings Christian (7-2)

Crossings Christian is one of the favorites to win Class 5A. Like Owasso and Dale, the Knights' two losses came in tournaments, but they beat Midwest City Carl Albert by double digits earlier in the season. CCS also smoked a much improved Altus squad, 90-52, Tuesday evening.

5. Weatherford (14-1)

The Eagles are the favorites to win Class 4A and for good reason. They are long, athletic and have great size with the Sage twins (Tate and Ethan), Nate Reherman and CJ Nickson. After the Tournament of Champions, Weatherford handled Guthrie its first loss, 52-36, and went on the road to Elk City Tuesday and won by 39 points.

6. Edmond Memorial (10-3)

The Bulldogs are red hot, winning five in a row and also won the McGuinness Tournament last week. Edmond Memorial outlasted a feisty Enid team Tuesday, but will host Tulsa Union this week.

7. Edmond Deer Creek (9-3)

The Antlers have been battle-tested, with more than half of their games being against ranked opponents. Junior guard Clyde Davis has been a difference maker, especially in the McGuinness Tournament last week, where the Antlers finished third.

8. Choctaw (7-2)

Senior Ja’Mon Valentine is a McDonald’s All-American nominee and has led his team to many victories and looks to keep doing so. Choctaw will travel to Ponca City, then Jenks, which are two huge district matches.

9. Midwest City Carl Albert (8-3)

Coach Jay Price earned his 500th career win Tuesday, when Carl Albert beat Shawnee, 58-33. The Titans finished third in the Mustang Holiday Classic and have won five games in a row.

10. Broken Arrow (9-2)

The Tigers did lose to Midwest City Carl Albert in the Bartlesville championship game last week, but have dominated most of their other 6A opponents. Their schedule gets tough this week, as they host Jenks, then travel to Bixby next week.

11. Midwest City (5-2)

The Bombers have won three in a row, including a win over Del City by two points before Christmas break. Carlsheon Young, an Oklahoma State commitment, is playing well and played a big part in Midwest City winning the Putnam City Invitational tournament.

12. Tulsa Union (8-2)

The Redhawks have surprised some people, but have been road warriors as their first home game of the season was Tuesday against Putnam City. Union is right back on the road this week though, as they travel to Edmond Memorial, in what should be a dandy of a game.

13. Jenks (9-2)

Jenks has won seven games in a row, beating Ponca City Tuesday. The Trojans also won the McAlester Tournament and won all three games by double digits. Jenks will travel to rival Broken Arrow this Friday.

14. Bixby (6-4)

Despite losing two of its last three games, Bixby beat Stillwater, 74-71, in overtime Tuesday. Luke Friedrichsen made great plays to get the Spartans back on the winning track. Bixby will travel to Muskogee this week, then hosts Broken Arrow next week.

15. OKC Douglass (5-3)

With Jaden Nickens joining the team from Millwood, the Trojans have picked up some steam, winning three games in a row. Douglass hosts Ardmore Friday; then Saturday night is the matchup many people have been awaiting, when the Trojans host Millwood.

16. OKC Millwood (8-3)

Despite losing Jaden Nickens, the Falcons have lost one game, a heartbreaking 56-53 loss to Bixby in the Bartlesville Tournament. It hosts Community Christian Friday; then goes to OKC Douglass Saturday night for a huge matchup, where Nickens now plays.

17. Tulsa Booker T. Washington (8-1)

After losing to Mustang, Booker T. has been on a mission, winning five games in a row, and scoring 100 points against Grove.

18. Tulsa Holland Hall (8-1)

The Dutch have also won five games in a row and were stunned by Inola at the Inola tournament in December. Holland Hall will play at crosstown rival Cascia Hall this Friday.

19. Edmond Santa Fe (8-3)

Edmond Santa Fe has not lost a district contest, but the Wolves will be tested when they face Northwest Classen later this week.

20. Putnam City West (5-5)

The Patriots have played a tough schedule, but with four-star Kaidon Rayfield and coach Lenny Bert, the Patriots should improve. However, they must improve fast, as they host a good Westmoore team this week.

21. Okay (10-3)

Okay was the only Class A team who competed in the Tournament of Champions. All three of their losses came in that tournament, but have won the rest of their games in huge fashion. They will be “Okay” in Class A.

22. Pocola (11-0)

A dangerous squad in Class 2A has had one game within single digits, when they beat Broken Bow, 50-41. Could Pocola be the team to knock off the two-time defending state champion Dale Pirates?

23. Calumet (16-0)

The state runner up in Class B looks to return to the championship game and finish the job this season.

24. Duke (14-0)

Duke has not had any close contests and scored more than 100 points in two games this season.

25. Oklahoma Christian School (9-1)

The Saints got a big win over North Rock Creek Tuesday evening. OCS has played a tough schedule, as their lone loss is to Dale at the Dale Tournament.
