Jenks avenges opening-week loss to Edmond Santa Fe in 6AI quarterfinal round
On Week Zero in August, Edmond Santa Fe went into Jenks and stunned the Trojans, 27-26.
Undoubtedly, revenge was on the Trojans' mind when the two teams returned to Allan Trimble Stadium, this time in Friday's Class 6AI quarterfinal playoff.
Jenks avenged that defeat, as two fourth-quarter touchdown runs from Hudson Ball ended up being the difference in a 24-10 win against the Wolves.
Down 10-3 at halftime, Santa Fe had tied the score at 10-all when William Shoemaker returned a fumble 52 yards late in the third quarter.
But it was all Jenks in the fourth quarter. Ball put the Trojans (7-4) ahead to stay with 10:23 left on a 10-yard TD run. Just more than four minutes later, he found the end zone from 4 yards out to provide the final two-touchdown margin of victory.

The Trojans took a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a 6-yard TD run from Simian Gilkey. Both teams then exchanged field goals - Santa Fe's Kale Purvis on a 25-yarder early in the second quarter and Jenks' Jack Franklin from 40 yards out with more than three minutes to go before halftime, giving Jenks a 10-3 advantage.
With Friday's win, the Trojans now have another rematch, taking on Tulsa Union in next week's 6AI semifinals. But this time, it will be the Redhawks seeking revenge for a Jenks win in the "Backyard Bowl" in September.
It will also be a rematch in the other 6AI semifinal as defending champion Bixby takes on Owasso. The Spartans beat the Rams in August in the "Battle of the Burbs," as well as defeating Owasso for the 6AI title last season.
