High school football in Oklahoma is nearing the postseason, and there are several defensive backs who have already made some amazing plays and have received multiple college offers.

Here is the list of some of the top defensive backs who are taking the field in 2023. If you know of a defensive back that should also be on the list, let us know.

Oklahoma's Top Players To Watch in 2023

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Receivers/Tight Ends | Offensive Linemen | Defensive Linemen | Linebackers

In no particular order:

Trystan Haynes, 6-2, 170, Jr., Midwest City Carl Albert

Carl Albert is a machine in Class 5A. Haynes might just be the gas.

As one of the most talented players in the state, Haynes' acceleration and size makes any ball in the air an interception threat. With 17 Division I offers including Alabama, Arkansas, Miami and Oklahoma, Haynes is a must-watch for the rest of his football career.

Dax Noles, 6-0, 185, Sr., Norman

A strong two-way player, Noles shines bright in pass coverage. He has great vision and sees the quarterback well as his jumps are almost always correct and lead to huge hits, breakups or picks.

Noles is currently committed to Oklahoma as a preferred walk-on.

Deyonn Bowler, 5-8, 150, Sr., Muskogee

The Roughers' defense has gone from abysmal two seasons ago to one of the state's strongest. Bowler, a senior, is critical in that growth.

He has tremendous speed and his footwork rarely gets him beat by receivers. That footwork is dangerous with an interception in his hands.

Dax Collins, 6-0, 175, Sr., Poteau

With the speed Collins has, he is a tackling machine. There truly isn’t a play he cannot be a part of.

With 30 tackles midway through the season, Collins shows why he is one of the best DB in the state. He was getting looks from multiple DI schools including Michigan State, Colorado and SMU, but has committed to play at the University of Tulsa.

Ethan Shelton, 5-9, 165, Jr., Piedmont

Everywhere Shelton goes, he impresses. From camps to being on the field, Shelton proves himself as a dangerous defensive back and worthy of DI eyes.

Through six games, Shelton's 4.41 speed has broken up five passes and even cashed in for paydirt on an interception.

Orlando Barre, 6-0, 145, Sr., Edmond Deer Creek

Fresh to the starting lineup, Barre’s inexperience almost didn’t exist in a huge game against Choctaw as he came up with a huge interception in a massive district victory. Barre also had one forced fumble.

He will be one to watch in the postseason.

Brayson Carter, 5-9, 150, Jr., Blanchard

The Lions defense ticks through Carter. As a turnover machine, Carter managed two picks and a scoop and score against Tuttle this season.

The junior is going to be a problem for other Class 4A teams.

Mykel Patterson-McDonald, 5-11, 175, Sr., Westmoore

The Westmoore product is already on his way to Norman to play for the Sooners, but he is still handling business as one of the state's best in pass coverage.

Patterson-McDonald is simply special. He sees the ball well and is tough to shake off. He will be a vital piece of a quickly improving Sooner defense.

Micheal Graham Jr., 6-0, 185, Sr., Westmoore

Also holding down the Westmoore secondary is their own MJ. The Houston Cougar commit is a true competitor.

As a two-way athlete, he powered the Jags to a 42-20 win over Enid with 5 TDs — but oddly enough, shines just as bright at DB.

Devon Jordan, 6-1, 165, Sr., Tulsa Union

Another Sooner commit, Jordan is simply spectacular in coverage. A freak athlete, Jordan may be the most physically strong player on this list. He hits hard and can jump with anybody.

After considering several DI schools, Jordan went with Oklahoma over Alabama and Texas A&M.

LaDainian Fields, 6-1, 180, Sr., Del City

Last but certainly not least, Fields is the complete package. He does everything well in pass coverage. He pursues well, accelerates to the ball, and has fantastic vision with the ball in the air.

Fields will be heading to join the Horned Frogs of TCU.
