Del City beats Coweta, clinches Oklahoma District 5A-3 football title

Cousins LaDainian and Rodney Fields shine in Eagles' 43-14 victory at Coweta

Del City's streak of three consecutive shutouts was snapped on Friday.

But the Eagles' win streak continues, as Del City built a 36-0 second-quarter lead and moved to 9-0 with a 43-14 win at Coweta. The win wrapped up the District 5A-3 championship for the Eagles (9-0, 6-0).

Standout players, and cousins, LaDainian Fields and Rodney Fields both had a big night offensively. LaDainian Fields, a receiver and TCU commit, caught seven passes for 146 yards and scored three touchdowns, while Rodney Fields, a tailback and Oklahoma State commit, rushed for 105 yards on 12 carries and two TDs.

LaDainian Fields and Rodney Fields had touchdowns early on as Del City built a 21-0 lead, with the first TD coming on a pass from quarterback River Warren to receiver Tayvann Johnson. The Eagles added TDs from both Fields along with Braelon Adamah in building their lead to 36-0.

Coweta (6-3, 5-1) finally got on the scoreboard late in the first half on a short TD run from Lolo Bell, but the Eagles continued to have things in cruise control.

Del City wraps up the regular season on Thursday with a home game against Durant. The Tigers end their regular season next Friday at Tulsa Memorial.
