Another week of high school sports in the books and another week of great finishes, trickled in with some memorable performances, that we will take a look at below. 

Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oklahoma High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 16-22. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m. If you would like to nominate an athlete, email athleteoftheweek@scorebooklive.com or tag us on Twitter

Kayleb Barnett, Broken Arrow football

In a 44-20 win over Enid, the junior wideout had 12 catches for 145 yards and caught two touchdowns.

Issac Covington, Tulsa Union football

The two-way star for the Redhawks did a little bit of everything, as Covington amassed 12 tackles and an interception on defense. He also had 62 yards rushing and a touchdown in Union’s 31-10 win at Edmond Santa Fe.

Phoenix Murphy, Norman football

In a come-from-behind 27-19 win at Mustang, Murphy played phenomenal. The Tigers scored 20 unanswered points to get the win, including a 41-yard pass to Dax Noles in the fourth quarter.

David McComb, Edmond Memorial football

Despite suffering a 49-42 loss to Owasso, McComb had a great night. He passed for 325 yards and ran for 150 yards.

Dev Mathews, Edmond North football

For the second time this year, Matthews has ran for more than 300 yards in a single game. He also scored six touchdowns in the 49-34 win over Yukon.

Jamarian Ficklin, Muskogee football

The Roughers took care of business against Tulsa Booker T. Washington on Senior Night, and Ficklin had another great night. He was 19-of-29 for 273 yards, passing for four touchdowns and running for two more.

Cannon Wood, Piedmont football

In a shutout win over the weekend, Wood did it on both the offensive and defensive end. Wood had 212 yards rushing and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Defensively, he had 12 tackles.

Michael Blendowski, Catoosa football

Filling in at quarterback for his second time, Blendowski had four rushing touchdowns and 81 yards rushing. He had 96 yards through the air, passed for a touchdown and kicked four extra points in a 49-13 win against Skiatook.

Kevin Sperry, Midwest City Carl Albert football

In a monster matchup against Guthrie, Sperry came up clutch. He passed for the game-winning touchdown on a fourth-down play with less than a minute left in regulation and made the plays when he needed to make them to help keep the Titans undefeated on the season.

Ayden Hamilton, Victory Christian football

The dual-threat quarterback ran for more yards than he had passing. In a 69-21 win against Sperry, he ran for 344 yards and passed for 283 yards, scoring eight touchdowns.

Stice Smith, Bishop Kelley football

In a thrilling Class 5A showdown that saw the Comets beat Claremore 42-41, Smith accounted for 220 all-purpose yards and scored five touchdowns, including the game-winner with less than two minutes to go.

Isaiah Sawyer, Jones football

Sawyer had a career-high 203 yards on the ground and two touchdowns in a key district win at Chandler.

Andy Bass, Heritage Hall football

Heritage Hall has rolled to an 8-0 start and Bass continues to put up great numbers. On Friday, Bass was 21-of-30, passing for 371 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 123 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Eric Stevenson, Perkins-Tryon football

In a dominant district win, Stevenson dominated in the run game, but was effective in the passing game as well. The senior also won a punting competition in Texas on Saturday.

Jentry Pendergraft, Kiefer football

On just 11 touches, the senior fullback had more than 100 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns. Defensively, Pendergraft had 13 tackles, two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt in a 68-6 win over Beggs.

Braden Schwickerath, Summit Christian football

Summit Christian’s defensive standout had a great night, recovering a fumble and getting 13 tackles.

Maren Johnson, Jenks volleyball

Leading 22-21 in the second set, Johnson provided three straight kills to win the set and carry momentum into the third set. The Trojans went on to sweep Edmond Memorial, 3-0 to win the Class 6A state volleyball title.

Olivia Metz, Bishop McGuinness volleyball

In the Class 5A state volleyball championship, Metz made several key plays to lead her team to a 3-1 win over Booker T. Washington.

Zac Rutherford, Edmond North boys cross country

At the Class 6A regional cross-country meet, Rutherford won the race with a time of 15:22.

Bella Nelson, Owasso girls cross country

At the Class 6A regional cross-country meet, Nelson won the race with a time of 17:46.
