Tulsa Union uses second-half rally to outlast Broken Arrow, 27-17
A pair of third-quarter touchdown throws by Shaker Reisig allowed Tulsa Union to rally and win its home opener Friday.
The Redhawks, who trailed Broken Arrow 17-14 at halftime, used Reisig's two second-half TD tosses to go on to a 27-17 win at Union-Tuttle Stadium.
Now, Union - and Reisig in particular - can turn its attention to next week's game at traditional arch-rival Jenks. It will also serve as a homecoming of sorts for Reisig, who was a freshman quarterback for Jenks in 2021 as the Trojans beat Union for the 6AI title.
Reisig - who threw four TD passes in Friday's win - transferred to Union prior to his sophomore season. With Reisig playing behind center for the Redhawks, Union beat Jenks in last season's "Backyard Bowl," 38-3.
Ironically, it was another former Jenks player that put the Redhawks ahead to stay in Friday's win as Jordan Schelling - who transferred to Union from Jenks over the offseason - caught a 37-yard TD pass from Reisig to give the Redhawks a 20-17 lead.

Union (2-0) got some extra insurance when Reisig hooked up with Jino Boyd from 5 yards out for its final 10-point margin. Boyd caught two TD passes from Reisig.
BA (0-2), which was shut out in its season opener last week by Bentonville (Ark.), took a 17-14 lead on the final play of the first half when Kayleb Barnett recovered a fumble in the end zone as the Tigers were attempting a quarterback sneak.
Reisig threw his first TD pass to Boyd, covering 9 yards late in the first quarter which tied the score at 7-all. After the Tigers regained the lead on a field goal, Reisig hooked up with Brendon McQueen with more than five minutes left until halftime, which gave Union a 14-10 advantage.
The Tigers will have a rivalry game of their own next week as they take on Owasso, which beat Jenks on Friday.
