Oklahoma high school basketball tournaments pushed back to Friday

Instead of Thursday, games this week will now begin on Friday and conclude Monday

Due to the threat of winter weather, the Oklahoma high school basketball tournaments have been pushed back a day.

Instead of Thursday, games this week will now begin on Friday and conclude Monday per a Tuesday morning release from the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association.

Those will include the regional tournaments for classes 2A through 6A as well as the area tournaments for classes A and B.

For the 5A and 6A regionals, play will now begin on Friday with the girls games, with times and locations remaining the same. Then for the boys games originally scheduled for Friday, those will now be played on Saturday, also with times and locations remaining the same.

All regional finals, both boys and girls, originally scheduled for Saturday will now be moved to Monday. Locations will remain the same, but those games will now be played in an evening session.

For the 2A through 4A regional tournaments and the A-B area tournaments, games originally scheduled for Thursday will now be played in one session on Friday, with game times now set for 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Locations will remain the same.

Games originally scheduled for Friday will now be played on Saturday, with the same schedule and locations.

Then the Saturday games will be played on Monday. Locations will remain the same, and there will be two sessions on Monday.

Also, next week's A and B state tournaments have been pushed back a day. Those will now start on Wednesday, March 2, and run through Saturday, March 5 in the Oklahoma City area.
