Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Ohio high school Athlete of the Week for January 14-20. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Kendal Batchik, St. Vincent-St. Mary girls basketball 

Posted a season-best 19 points to defeat Streetsboro 61-44.

Elise Bender, Anthony Wayne girls basketball

Tied the program record for most points in a game with 34 points in a 71-70 win over Laurel at Classic in the Country. In a 55-37 victory over Findlay, her 21-point performance moved her into the top spot for career points in program history.

Brandon Bickerton, Medina Highland wrestling

Took home the title at 106 pounds at the Grizzly Invitational by defeating state placer Jake Landis of St. Paris Graham by major decision in the semifinals and then taking a 10-2 decision over Ryan Totten of Detroit Central catholic (Michigan) in the final.

Devin Brown, Olentangy Orange boys basketball 

Finished with 23 points, including five 3-pointers, to roll past Walnut Ridge 66-48 and move on to 14-0 this season.

Kayla Buehler, Eastwood girls basketball

Joined the 1,000 career points club and scored 34 points in a 61-13 victory over Rossford.

Meg Campbell, Massillon Jackson girls basketball

Scored a career-high 26 points on Wednesday in a win over Green.

Jordan Fisher, Reynoldsburg boys basketball

Dropped 34 points to help the Raiders beat Pickerington Central 93-83 in overtime. The victory marks Reynoldsburg’s first win at Pickerington Central since 2013.

Conye Gaston, Toledo Christian boys basketball

The senior guard had 24 points to help pace the Eagles to a 73-68 win against Emmanuel.

Mari Gerton, Princeton girls basketball

Scored a game-high 21 points to defeat Magnificat 53-42 at Classic in the Country.

Bronson Gilyard, St. Thomas Aquinas boys basketball 

In a win over Akron North, Gilyard scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out six assists.

Jaxon Joy, Wadsworth wrestling

Won the title at 150 pounds at the Grizzly Invitational, which gives him 170 wins for his career. 

Eli Justice, Newark wrestling

At the North Union Don Wasserbeck Classic, Justice took home the top spot at 157 pounds by pinning three of his four opponents in 51 seconds or less. He won by pinfall in the first round in 51 seconds, in 37 seconds in the semifinals and then in 32 seconds in the final. He won the quarterfinal match by 4-0 decision.

Quinn “Turtle” Kwasniak, Cornerstone Christian Academy boys basketball 

The junior guard scored 60 points, including thirteen 3-pointers, to break his own program records in single-game scoring and 3-pointers made. The Patriots defeated Horizon Academy 85-34.

Kade Lentz, Elmwood boys basketball

Finished with 40 points in a 72-48 victory over Lakota.

Sydney Mobley, Olentangy girls basketball

 The freshman power forward had 28 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Braves to a 65-63 victory over Unioto at Classic in the Country. In a 49-48 win at Marysville, Mobley hit the game-winning free throw and finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Eddie Neitenbach, Buckeye wrestling

His path to the title at 190 pounds at the Grizzly Invitational wasn’t easy, but he got through it without a problem, defeating Lincoln Shulaw of Columbus DeSales by 15-0 technical fall in the semifinals and then defending state champion in Division III, Keegan Sell of Garrettsville Garfield, 11-4 in the final. 

Madison Parrish, Mason girls basketball

Tallied 30 points and seven rebounds in a 55-46 victory over Mount Notre Dame.

Niera Stevens, Archbishop Hoban girls basketball

Posted a career-high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Knights to a 64-52 win over Rogers.

Berry Wallace, Pickerington Central girls basketball

Recorded a double-double, scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 54-30 home victory against Reynoldsburg.

Quinn Woidke, St. Ignatius boys basketball

Scored 23 points to help the Wildcats defeat Lutheran West 76-64 and hand the Longhorns their first loss of the season.

Micah Young, Westerville North boys basketball

Scored 19 points to lead the Warriors to a 62-46 victory over Akron Buchtel.
