Ohio high school boys basketball computer rankings (1/17/2024)

Two defending state champions lead the way in their divisions

It's time to release SBLive's first computer rankings of the 2023-24 Ohio high school boys basketball season.

Westerville North is the top-ranked team in our Division I computer rankings, followed by Findlay and Olentangy Orange.

Lutheran West (13-0) sits atop our Division II rankings, with Bishop Hartley and Archbishop Alter right behind.

In the Division III rankings, defending state champion Lutheran East is on top, followed by Wayne Trace and Lima Central Catholic.

The Division IV rankings sees defending state champion Richmond Heights at No. 1 with one of the toughest schedules in the state, with Russia and Toledo Christian behind the Spartans.

SBLive's computer rankings formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm in order to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.

Here are SBLive's latest Ohio boys basketball computer rankings (Through games played on Monday, January 16):
