St. Ignatius beats Archbishop Moeller on penalty kicks: Live updates from Ohio boys soccer Division I state championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio - St. Ignatius and Archbishop Moeller are battling at Historic Crew Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the OHSAA Division I state championship.

St. Ignatius is trying to win its fifth straight state title while Moeller is attempting to record the 24th shutout in a row this season.

Game still 0-0 after 10 minutes

Moeller had an opportunity in the first minute to score, but couldn't get a shot. 

St. Ignatius has one shot to Moeller's 0.

Paxton Hafner scores to make it 1-0 Moeller in the 14th minute

Moeller got a corner kick and after the ball was passed around the box a few times, Bradley Poppel flipped the ball in the air and Hafner put it in the bottom right of the goal with his right foot.

After 30 minutes, Moeller still leads 1-0

The best chance for St. Ignatius came on a corner kick in the 22nd minute, but Moeller goalkeeper Austin Nowak went up and grabbed the ball out of midair before any of the Wildcats could touch it.

25 minutes remaining: Moeller still leads 1-0

St, Ignatius got its first shot on goal in the 51st minute, but Nowak made the save for Moeller.

Despite just having one shot on goal, the Wildcats spent the majority of the last 10 minutes in the offensive zone.

Lucas Peters of Moeller had a shot on goal off a 2-on-1 with exactly 25 minutes left, but Colin Monroe made the save.

The Moeller defense continues to stifle the St. Ignatius offense as the Wildcats still have just one shot on goal.

The best scoring opportunity in the last few minutes came on a Moeller corner kick in the 68th minute, but the Crusaders couldn't convert it into a shot on goal.

St. Ignatius ties it!

Bryce Ince-Lovelace beat Austin Nowak off a pass by Nicholas Mikulec in the 75th minute.

It's the first goal allowed by Nowak in 24 games this season.

Still tied after first overtime

St. Ignatius was the aggressor in the first overtime, with three shots and one on goal, but neither team found the net.

The teams will play another 15-minute sudden death overtime with penalty kicks to decide the title if the game remains tied.

Both teams had their chances in the second overtime, but 110 minutes was not enough to decide the Division I state championship and we will head to penalty kicks.
