Ohio high school football top stars and best performances (10/30/2023)

From Marquan Braswell of Toledo Central Catholic to Andrew Weber of St. Xavier, there were several big-time high school football performances across the state of Ohio in the first round of the playoffs.

There were several big-time high school football performances across the state of Ohio this past weekend as the playoffs kicked off. Here are some of those performances.

Marquan Braswell, Toledo Central Catholic 

Braswell had a game-high two scores in Toledo Central Catholic’s 42-7 win over Bowling Green. The senior running back has scored multiple touchdowns in the Fighting Irish’s last five games.

Enzo Catania, Aurora

The senior running back ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-7 victory over Alliance in the first round of the Division III playoffs.

Thomas Csanyi, St. Edward

The junior quarterback threw for two touchdowns, including one on a 45-yard strike, to help the Eagles blank Elyria 42-0.

Luke Dunn, Withrow

Dunn went 10-of-14 for 242 yards and three touchdowns as the Tigers shut out Edgewood 49-0. His three scores set a new single-season program record for the most passing touchdowns (32) in a season. The previous record was set by Juandez Brown who had 30 touchdowns passing in 2007.

Ian Erb, Mineral Ridge

Scored four touchdowns - three rushing and one receiving - in a 35-6 win over Jackson-Milton.

Chase Heiland, Portsmouth

Heiland had a monster performance in a Division V playoff game against Fairland. He finished with 359 yards on 44 carries and four scores to help the Trojans defeat the Dragons 50-38.

Nino Hill, Canton McKinley

In McKinley’s 37-13 playoff win over Strongsville, the junior running back rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns, including one on a 50-yard run.

Grady Kinsey, Indian Valley 

Rushed for three touchdowns as Indian Valley, the No. 15 seed in Division IV, region 15, upset fourth-seeded Logan Elm.

Braxton Leeth, Crestview

Leeth scored two touchdowns and had 172 yards en route to Crestview’s 42-14 victory over Tiffin Calvert. For the third time since 2016, the Knights knocked the Senecas out of the playoffs.

Andrew Leonard, Olentangy Liberty 

With the Patriots trailing 35-34 in the final seconds, Leonard flipped into the end zone to complete a two-point conversion to edge Findlay 36-35.

Dawson Morgan, Rootstown

Rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown to reach the 2,000-yard rushing yard mark for the season as Rootstown beat Southeast 43-7.

Casey Myser, Medina Highland

Led the offense with 154 yards on 17 carries and two scores as the Hornets defeated Midview 49-7.

Julian Patti, Rocky River

The senior quarterback finished 14-of-25 for 257 passing yards and one touchdown and ran for a score to help the Pirates defeat Clyde 14-7.

Da’One Owens, Massillon

Led the Tigers to a 41-6 victory over Central Crossing, finishing 20-of-27 for 341 yards and four touchdowns, including one on a 51-yard throw. Owens’ 341 yards is ranked sixth all-time in the Massillon record book.

Andrew Weber, St. Xavier

Weber flashed his speed with punt returns of 71 and 82 yards as St. Xavier defeated Springboro 35-13.
