Ohio high school football playoffs 2023: Division V brackets, top seeds, best matchups for second round

The OHSAA football playoffs began last week with 448 teams vying for a state title throughout Ohio's seven divisions.

We are now down to 224 teams, with eight teams left in each region and 32 teams remaining in each division.

All second round games will be played on Friday, Nov. 3 (unless circumstances force a game to be moved to Saturday) at the home field of the higher seed with all games in later rounds at a neutral site to be determined by the OHSAA. The state semifinal pairings will be announced following the regional finals..

The seven OHSAA football State championship games will be played in Canton at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium from Nov. 30-Dec. 2.

Division V, Region 17

Top Seeds: 1. Perry, 2. South Range, 3. Norwayne, 4. Harrison Central

Lowest seed remaining: No. 9 Sandy Valley

Most intriguing second round game: No. 4 Harrison Central vs. No. 5 Garrettsville Garfield

Predicted region winner: Perry

Division V, Region 18

Top Seeds: 1. Liberty Center, 2. Milan Edison, 3. Archbold, 4. Oak Harbor

Lowest seed remaining: No. 12 Marengo Highland

Most intriguing second round game: No. 3 Archbold vs. No. 6 Coldwater

Predicted region winner: Coldwater

Division V, Region 19

Top Seeds: 1. Ironton, 3. Barnesville, 4. Harvest Prep, 5. Zanesville

Lowest seed remaining: No. 15 Portsmouth

Most intriguing second round game: No. 3 Barnesville vs. No. 6 Columbus Academy

Predicted region winner: Ironton

Division V, Region 20

Top Seeds: 1. Valley View, 2. Wayneville, 3. Brookville, 4. Zane Trace

Lowest seed remaining: No. 11 Preble Shawnee

Most intriguing second round game: No. 4 Zane Trace vs. No. 5 Purcell Marian 

Predicted region winner: Zane Trace
