Ohio high school football top stars and best performances (10/9/2023)

From Toledo Central Catholic's Marquan Braswell to Lakota West's Sam Wildes, there were several big-time high school football performances across the state of Ohio in week 8.

There were several big-time high school football performances across the state of Ohio this past weekend. Here are some of those performances.

Marquan Braswell, Toledo Central Catholic

The senior running back scored three touchdowns and finished with a game-high 94 rushing yards to top the 1,000-yard mark for the season as the Fighting Irish earned a decisive 42-0 victory over St. Mary’s Preparatory.

Casey Bullock, St. Edward 

Went 9-of-16 for 145 yards and had a pair of scores in the Eagles’ 35-15 win over Clarkson North (Canada).

Jakorion Caffey, Avon

The Cincinnati commit shattered three records as the Eagles defeated Midview 45-7. Caffey scored 21- and 28-yard touchdowns en route to breaking the program’s records in points, touchdowns and all-time rushing yards.

Ross Coppock, Centerville

Led the defense with two interceptions and a pick-six as the Elks edged Springfield 24-16.

Marquise Davis, Cleveland Heights

Finished with 368 rushing yards on 31 carries and scored six touchdowns as the Tigers defeated Medina 62-52.

Brayton Feister, Archbishop Hoban

The freshman running back came up clutch for the Knights, scoring two touchdowns to help lift Hoban past Glenville 28-16.

Ja'Meir Gamble, Massillon 

Led the Tigers’ offense with 233 rushing yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns as Massillon defeated Austintown-Fitch 42-7.

Kevin Jordan, Elyria

Broke Elyria’s single-game rushing record with 334 yards on 30 carries in a 46-41 victory over Amherst. Jordan also scored five touchdowns and had a two-point conversion.

Christian Lynch, Ursuline 

Led the Irish to a 38-8 win over Villa-Angela St. Joseph with two rushing touchdowns.

Jordan Marshall, Moeller

Had a pair of 49-yard touchdown runs and finished with 215 yards en route to defeating St. Ignatius 47-7.

Josh Mirus, Elder

In the Panthers' 49-7 win over Life Christian Academy, Mirus scored four touchdowns, including one on a 36-yard reception.

Kentrell Rinehart, Bishop Ready

Went for a season-high 381 yards and six scores in a 42-21 win over Buckeye Valley.

Ziaire Stevens, Akron East

Ran for 251 yards and two touchdowns to help the Dragons edge Buchtel 14-11 on the road.

Zack Weber, Bishop Watterson 

Weber dominated on both sides of the ball, finishing with 204 total yards and two touchdowns on offense and four tackles and a sack on defense in a 41-7 win over St. Charles.

Sam Wiles, Lakota West

The junior quarterback helped blank rival Lakota East 34-0, finishing 10-of-16 for 156 yards. Wiles also threw a 16-yard touchdown pass and ran for another score. The Firebirds are now 6-0 since Wiles was named the starting quarterback.
