Wes Birch, Springfield boys soccer 

In a 2-1 loss to Benjamin Logan on Friday, the junior scored the lone goal for the Wildcats. And then on Saturday, he found the net twice in a 4-4 tie against Calvary Christian. At week’s end, he was leading the Greater Western Ohio Conference with three tallies.

Levi Davis, Olentangy Orange football

Threw for 272 yards and a pair of scores and ran for 64 yards and three touchdowns en route to a 42-35 victory over West Clermont.

Marquise Davis, Cleveland Heights football

The junior rushed for a 61-yard touchdown in the second quarter and finished with 228 yards on 21 carries and four touchdowns to help the Tigers beat Berea-Midpark 46-21. The junior also showed off his versatility, grabbing an interception in the second quarter.

Hezekiah Garcia, Elyria Catholic boys soccer

In two games this past week, the junior found the net eight times. He scored five goals in a 12-1 win over Keystone and followed that up with a hat trick against St. Vincent-St. Mary.

Nolan Good, Avon football

The signal-caller went 12-of-15 for 204 yards and three touchdowns and showed off his wheels with a 23-yard touchdown. Avon defeated Brunswick 49-7 to earn their first win of the season.

Josh Groudle, St. Edward football

The senior scored a pair of touchdowns and finished with a team-high 68 yards on 13 carries as the Eagles defeated Center Grove (Indiana) 27-10.

Tommy Janowicz, Upper Arlington football

The senior led the Golden Bears to touchdowns on three of his first four drives at quarterback as Upper Arlington defeated Reynoldsburg 35-6 in their season opener.

D'Shawntae Jones, Glenville football

The senior running back was a familiar face in the end zone, scoring four touchdowns in the second quarter to lead the Tarblooders to a 36-13 win over Dinwiddie (Virginia). Jones finished with 11 carries for 133 yards and four touchdowns while playing just the first half.

Bella Land, Kings girls soccer

In three games this past week, the senior helped lead the Knights to three wins by scoring five goals and adding five assists. She began the week with a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Indian Hill on Monday before scoring twice and assisting on two other goals in both a 6-2 win over Lakota East on Thursday and a 4-2 win over Sycamore on Saturday. 

Tyrell Lewis, Wayne football

Lewis showed off his arm strength in Wayne’s 58-51 victory over Fairfield, completing 20-of-28 passes for 372 yards and five touchdowns while reeling in two scores of his own.

Ian Ludewig, Hudson football

Ludewig rushed for 170 yards and four touchdowns as Hudson rolled past Highland, 35-14. Ludewig also returned a kickoff 96 yards for another score.

Tyler Morgan, Toledo Central Catholic football

In Central Catholic’s season opener against Findlay, Morgan finished with nine carries for 113 yards and four touchdowns. The Fighting Irish rolled their way to a 47-14 victory over the Trojans, marking their 11th straight win in the series.

DaOne Owens, Massillon football

The senior quarterback led the Tigers offense with 13 carries for 241 yards and two touchdowns as Massillon defeated Valdosta (Georgia) 28-17 in their season opener.

Brayden Reilly, St. Xavier football

The sophomore grabbed two interceptions to shut down Lakota West 10-0.

Kentrell Rinehart, Bishop Ready football

The junior running back had a stat-stuffing performance with 38 carries for 342 yards and six touchdowns as Bishop Ready beat Newark Catholic 53-21.

Jack Smith, Kent Roosevelt football

Smith completed 18-of-28 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns in the Rough Riders’ 28-21 win over Ravenna.

Danny Stoddard, Medina football

Stoddard finished with 272 yards and four touchdowns, and a 30-yard rush of his own, in the Bees’ 48-18 victory at Stow-Munroe Falls.

Kyle White, Dublin Jerome football

The senior did it all for the Celtics, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns and passing for 176 yards and another pair of scores. Dublin Jerome defeated Westerville South 30-15.

Avery Williams, Licking Valley girls soccer

She recorded two hat tricks in three wins this past week when she scored three times against Centennial in a 5-0 win and then found the net four times in a 7-2 win over Morgan. She also scored in a 6-0 win over Heath.
