It's playoff time for North Carolina high school football and the Tar Heel State is producing some of the best quarterbacks in the country.

So which one has been the best in 2023?

We give you a list of 12 signal callers to choose from as we take a deeper dive into which quarterbacks have had the best 2023 season in North Carolina High School Football.

Voting concludes December 31st, 2023.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominations:

Javier Rice, Asheville Christian Academy: The numbers Rice has put up this season are eye-popping, especially when you look at the yardage. Rice has completed 385-of-554 passes for 3,909 yards and 34 touchdowns for the Lions.

Andrew Attemore II, Dudley: A quarterback taking care of the football is an offensive coordinator's dream and Attemore II has certainly done that this season. The signal caller has thrown for 3,168 yards, completed 74.6 percent of his pass attempts, 41 touchdowns and only thrown three interceptions. Quite the stat line.

Ny'tavious Huskey, Crest: Huskey combines the yards per game, touchdowns and keeping the turnovers to a minimum at the quarterback position. The Chargers' quarterback has completed 187-of-270 passes for 3,228 yards, 40 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.

Cole Weeks, Hobbton: Weeks only trails Rice when it comes to passing yardage, with the Hobbton quarterback averaging 313 per game. This season, Weeks has thrown for 3,443 yards and 38 touchdowns.

Jaylen Hewitt, West Carteret: Hewitt has thrown for a lot yards and an abundance of touchdowns this season for West Carteret. The signal caller has completed 224 passes for 3,236 yards and 34 touchdowns.

Bryce Baker, East Forsyth: The Eagles' quarterback has been impressive every time he takes the field and his season totals match up with just about anyone. Baker has completed 211-of-317 passes for 3,082 yards, 39 touchdowns and just a mere three interceptions.

Jadyn Davis, Providence Day: Davis has one of the highest completion percentages of any quarterback on this list at 73 percent. The signal caller this season has completed 184-of-251 passes for 3,081 yards, 41 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Connor Shea, Lejeune: So we know Shea has thrown some interceptions, but it's his touchdowns/yards this season that really put him on this list to at least consider. Shea has completed 197-of-424 passes for 3,000 yards, 39 touchdowns. His numbers remind us of Jameis Winston a little bit with the 24 interceptions tossed.

Brady Stober, Hickory: Talk about touchdown-to-interception ratio at the quarterback position. Stober has been very careful with the football this season, only throwing two interceptions. The signal caller has thrown for 2,793 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Lan Farmer, Shelby: The Golden Lions’ quarterback has been the engine behind the Shelby offense this season. Farmer has completed 150-of-227 passes for 2,672 yards and 36 touchdowns to just eight interceptions.

Al Lee, Reidsville: The 6-foot-3, 195-pound quarterback has been one of the state’s efficient passers. Lee has completed 159-of-256 passes for 2,581 yards, 36 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.

Brandon Quinn, Mountain Heritage: Are you a fan of a dual-threat quarterback? Not many have been as productive throwing and running like Quinn. The signal caller has thrown for 615 yards and 12 touchdowns this season and on the ground rushed for 1,905 and added 24 scores.
