Here are the candidates for SBLive’s North Carolina High School Athlete of the Week for Nov. 5 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week's poll.

THIS WEEK’S NORTH CAROLINA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Amir Craven, Central Davidson football: Craven ran for 376 yards and three touchdowns in the No. 20 Spartans' upset of No. 13 Eastern Guilford in the first round of the 3-A playoffs.

Mary Bonner Dalton, Myers Park cross country: Bonner Dalton won the NCHSAA 4-A state cross country championship, breaking the course record for girls and finishing in 16:54.

Noah Valyo, Athens Drive cross country: Valyo won the boy's 4-A state cross country championship, finishing in 15:05.40 and breaking the previous course record by two seconds.

Hunter Stalcup, Murphy football: Stalcup ran for 320 yards and four touchdowns in a 57-21 win over Polk County in the first round of the 1-A playoffs.

Gabriel Schmid, Orange cross country: Schmid won his second straight 3-A state championship and broke the 3-A meet record, finishing in 15:14.75.

Nicole Alfers, Christ the King cross country: Alfers became the first femal cross crountry champion in school history when she won the 1-A state title.

Meile Songalia, Kings Mountain volleyball: Songalia was named the Most Valuable Player in leading the Mountaineers to the 3-A state volleyball championship in five sets over Orange.

Meleah Foster, Brevard volleyball: Foster was named the MVP of the 2-A volleyball state championship match, leading Brevard to a straight sets win over Camden County.

Sophia Overhold, Polk County volleyball: Overhold was recognized as the MVP of the 1-A state volleyball championship match, leading Polk to a straight sets win over Falls Lake.

Avery Scoggins, Middle Creek volleyball: Scoggins was named the MVP of the 4-A state volleyball championship match after leading Middle Creek to a straight sets win over Cox Mill.
