Here are the candidates for SBLive’s North Carolina High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 22-28 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Voting will conclude on Saturday, November 4th at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Here are this week's nominations:

Brody Norman, Mooresville, Football

The Blue Devils’ quarterback threw two touchdown passes and ran for a pair of touchdowns in a 34-7 thumping of Lake Norman as undefeated Mooresville claimed the Greater Metro Conference championship.

Isaiah Lackey, Hickory, Football

Lackey was a workhorse, carrying the ball 23 times for 132 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Red Tornadoes’ 30-14 win over Statesville.

Brycen Gaither, St. Stephens, Football

The junior tailback carried 19 times for 262 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Indians’ 44-18 victory over Foard. Two of Gaither’s touchdown runs covered 62 and 52 yards. He also completed a pass for 13 yards.

Kaedyn Moran, Midway, Volleyball

Moran, a sophomore outside hitter, pounded 13 kills in the Raiders’ 3-2 win over Ayden-Grifton in the third round of the 2-A state playoffs.

Ellie Hildreth, Hoggard, Girls Golf

Hildreth, a junior, shot a 69 to win the 4-A East Regional tournament by six strokes.

Elizabeth Lyle, Charlotte Country Day, Field Hockey

The Buccaneers’ goalkeeper turned in another solid effort as Charlotte Country Day beat Cary Christian 2-0 to win the NCISAA state championship. Lyle allowed just one goal in the last three games.

Gannon Jones, Cardinal Gibbons, Football

The Crusaders’ quarterback was 21-of-30 for 280 yards and 3 touchdowns with 2 interceptions in a 33-23 win over Leesville Road that decided the conference championship.

Nyzir Bostick, Pine Forest, Football

The Trojans’ quarterback accounted for six touchdowns in a 56-34 win over Overhills. Bostick was 5-of-7 for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. On the ground, he ran 9 times for 114 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Shawn Davis, East Duplin, Football

Davis ran 27 times for 190 yards and 3 touchdowns as East Duplin beat Southwest Onslow 28-20. His touchdown runs were for 1, 10 and 30 yards. Davis now has 1,105 yards for the season.

Ricardo Mercado, Pinecrest

Mercado caught two touchdown passes and returned a punt for a touchdown in the undefeated Patriots’ 60-3 rout of Union Pines.
