Here are the candidates for SBLive’s North Carolina High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 17-23 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote in our poll. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 30 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week's poll. HERE ARE THIS WEEK’S NORTH CAROLINA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Markel Summers, Davie County Football: Summers ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns and had 95 receiving yards and a touchdown in a convincing 41-28 win over East Forsyth.

Hayden Craig, A.C. Reynolds Football: Craig completed 16 of 19 passes for 181 yards and four touchdowns and had 62 rushing yards and a touchdown in a 58-7 win against Enka.

Josh Collins, Swain County Football: Collins ran for 262 yards and three touchdowns and had 119 passing yards and two scores in a 35-16 win against Madison.

Ella Wimsett, Orange Volleyball: Wimsett is fourth in the state with 256 kills this season for the Panthers, who are 15-3 and 6-0 in conference play.  

Carrie Marion, Mount Airy Tennis: Marion, a junior, is a perfect 15-0 this season at No. 1 singles for the Bears.

Bella Hutchens, East Surry Volleyball: In four matches last week, Hutchens recorded 61 kills and now has 215 for the season.

Jaylen Hewitt, West Carteret Football: Hewitt threw for 371 yards and six touchdowns in a 58-36 win over North Pitt.

Ny'Tavious Huskey, Crest Football: Huskey set a new school record for career passing yards in a 56-0 win against Stuart Cramer. Huskey threw for 241 yards to give him 5,790 yards in his career, eclipsing the old mark of 5,590. Huskey has 1,481 passing yards and 21 touchdowns already this season for the Chargers.
