Here are the candidates for SBLive’s North Carolina High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 11-16 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote in our poll. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 23 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week's poll. HERE ARE THIS WEEK’S NORTH CAROLINA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Hannah Rae Shaffer, Cardinal Gibbons Cross Country: Shaffer won the girls adidas Cross Country Challenge in Cary on Sept. 16, besting an elite field of runners from the several different states. She finished in 17 minutes, 18.8 seconds.

Tatum Tesh, Oak Grove Volleyball: Tesh surpassed 1,000 career assists in a five-set win against High Point Wesleyan.

Nolan Hauser, Hough Football: Hauser established a new national high school record for career field goals after kicking a 48-yarder in a 52-7 win against North Mecklenburg on Sept. 14. Hauser, who is already the state record holder, now has 57 career field goals.

Deuce Walker, Salisbury Football: Walker, who recently committed to play at Georgia State, broke two school records in successive weeks for career receptions and receiving yards for the Hornets.

Logan Adair, Newton-Conover Football: Adair continued his stellar play this season in a 47-14 win against West Caldwell on Sept. 15. Adair completed 21 of 24 passes for 411 yards and seven touchdowns.

Mason Fortune, Millbrook Football: Fortune threw for 234 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score as the Wildcats beat Sanderson 55-7.

Meile Songalia, Kings Mountain Volleyball: Songalia enters the week No. 1 in the state for kills with 228. She combined for 41 kills in wins last week against North Gaston (18) and Forestview (23).

Tyler Mason, Mount Airy Football: Mason, a running back who is committed to Virginia Tech, became the new leader in career touchdowns at Mount Airy after scoring his 91st on a 16-yard run during a 64-0 win against North Stokes Sept. 15. He broke the Bears' previous mark held by Johnathan Smith.
