Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Central North Carolina Defensive Football Player of the Week for Sept. 14-15 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote in our poll. You may vote as often as you like. HERE ARE THIS WEEK'S NOMINEES

Zakhi Mitchell, East Forsyth: Mitchell had an interception late in the fourth quarter that helped preserve the Eagles' 29-21 win over Reagan and also returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown.

Billy Wilkes, Providence: Wilkes had 15 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and an interception in a 29-22 loss to Charlotte Catholic.

Jaden Smith, West Charlotte: Smith recorded 12 tackles, one tackle for loss and blocked a field goal in a 17-15 win against Mallard Creek.

Jelon Springs, Hickory Ridge: Springs had 10 tackles and an interception in a 33-28 win over A.L. Brown.

Zay Bolden, South Mecklenburg: Bolden recorded 12 tackles  and had an interception return for a touchdown and a fumble return for a touchdown in a 46-33 win over Olympic.

Mark McMahon, Charlotte Catholic: McMahon had two interceptions, one that he returned for a touchdown in a 29-22 win over Providence.
