Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Eastern North Carolina Defensive Football Player of the Week for Sept. 8-9 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote in our poll. You may vote as many times as you like. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 16 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week's poll. Congratulations to last week's winner, Dontario Austin of South View. Austin received 17,803 votes, 74 percent of all votes cast. Jayden Ferguson of Millbrook finished second.

HERE ARE THIS WEEK'S NOMINEES

Jayden Ferguson, Millbrook: Ferguson makes the list for the second straight week following his performance in a 44-6 win over Broughton. Ferguson had nine tackles, three of which were for loss, 1.5 sacks, and blocked a punt that he recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.

Micah Bynum, Farmville Central: Bynum had nine tackles and two sacks in a 50-0 win against Roanoke Rapids.

Hasaan Kornegay, James Kenan: Kornegay recorded eight solo and 17 total tackles, four of which were for a loss, in a 42-14 win over East Bladen. He also added a touchdown run for good measure.

Jordan Hall, East Duplin: Hall had 12 tackles in a 56-13 win over Croatan.

Nnamdi Ogboko, South Garner: The Georgia commit had eight tackles and a sack in a 44-12 win against Enloe.

Xavier Lewis, Leesville Road: Lewis had five tackles and a sack in a 49-7 win against Heritage.
