Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Eastern North Carolina Defensive Football Player of the Week for Aug. 28-Sept. 2 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote in our poll. You may vote as many times as you like. Congratulations to last week's winner, Isaiah Jones of Tarboro. Jones received 10,875 votes, or 58 percent of all votes cast. Gavin Williams of South View finished second in the voting.

HERE ARE THIS WEEK'S NOMINATIONS 

Grady Sotriffer, South Brunswick: Sotriffer scooped up a fumble and returned it for a touchdown in the third quarter of a 26-21 win against St. Paul's.

JerCory Scarboro, Clayton: Scarboro had five tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, one interceptions and one fumble recovery in a 45-7 win over Wakefield.

Jayden Ferguson, Millbrook: Ferguson had 16 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a rushing touchdown in 33-28 loss to Garner.

Luke Kaspar, South Johnston: Kaspar had two interceptions and blocked a punt in a 28-12 win against Corinth Holders.

Dontario Austin, South View: Austin recorded 12 tackles in a 43-0 shutout win against Riverside.
