Here are the candidates for SBLive’s North Carolina High School Football Coach of the Week for August 31-September 2 as nominated SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 9 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in our next poll. You may vote as many times as you like.

Congratulations to last week's winner, Cory Johnson of Clinton, who now has the Dark Horses off to a 3-0 start. Johnson received more than 58 percent of the vote in our fan poll last week. Jim Sosebee of Crest was the runner-up with 32 percent of the vote.

Editor’s note: Our Coach of the Week feature and corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. Our poll in no way is meant to discredit other coaches not mentioned. We will be running these polls throughout the season.

HERE ARE THIS WEEK’S NORTH CAROLINA FOOTBALL COACH OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Tripp Honeycutt, South Davidson: Honeycutt has the Wildcats off to a 3-0 start this season after a 42-0 win against North Stokes on Sept. 1. Honeycutt led the team to four wins and a 1-A playoff appearance in his first season with the team in 2022, a program that had won just five games in the previous five seasons before he arrived.

Steven Davis, Dudley: The Panthers are 3-0 and rolling, scoring 50-plus points per game and blasting Hillside 54-8 Sept. 1, a team that had beaten Dudley in the previous two seasons.

Derrick Sharpe, Parkland: The Mustangs, who won just one game in the last three seasons, are off to a 3-0 start for Sharpe following Friday's 42-0 win against Winston-Salem Prep. After a bye next week, Parkland will head into Central Piedmont 4-A Conference play.

Jonathan McIntosh, Central Davidson: McIntosh, a longtime assistant at West Forsyth, picked up his first career win as a head coach Sept. 1 with a 44-0 shutout win at West Davidson.

Greg Lloyd, Starmount: Lloyd, in his first season with the Rams, is 3-0 after beating arch-rival Forbush 47-14 to retain the UNIFI Cup.

David Lubowicz, East Lincoln: Following the departure of numerous seniors who led the Mustangs to the 3-A state title last season and are now playing at the next level, Lubowicz, has his team 3-0 after a 28-14 win against Lincolnton. The defense has given up just 22 points this season.

Sam Greiner, West Charlotte: One of the more impressive wins in a high-profile matchup in Charlotte on Sept. 1, the Lions beat Independence 21-20 courtesy of a 54-yard touchdown pass with 49 seconds left to improve to 3-0.

DeShawn Baker, Hough: The Huskies, who entered Friday's game against Dutch Fork, the reigning 5-A state champions in South Carolina, struggled to a 1-1 record through two games. But a last-second field goal by Nolan Hauser gave Hough a 21-20 statement win.

Tony Aguilar, Southeast Alamance: Aguilar delivered the first win in school history for the Stallions Friday night with a 55-7 win against Chatham Central.
