Hunter Tyson, former standout at Piedmont, lands in Denver on NBA Draft night

Hunter Tyson, who was a standout at Piedmont High School in Monroe, was the No. 37 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

Tyson was selected in the second round by the Oklahoma City Thunder and was later traded to the reigning NBA Champions, the Denver Nuggets.


Tyson enjoyed a successful career at Clemson, where he averaged 15.3 points and 9.6 rebounds while shooting 47.9 from the field during his final season with the Tigers and was a first-team All-ACC selection.
