TOP HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYERS IN NATION

Names are in alphabetical order.

Scottie Adkinson, Webster Groves (Missouri)

Adkinson has turned heads early in his high school career with his standout play for one of Missouri’s top squads. The 6-foot-2 guard already holds college offers from Missouri and Illinois.

Cameron Barnes, Lee’s Summit West (Missouri)

Kansas State offered Barnes prior to his freshman season, and they’re surely happy with that decision. The 6-foot-7 wing led the Titans, a top 15 team in Missouri, with 17 points in a December win over Blue Springs.

Martay Barnes, Holy Trinity Episcopal (Florida)

Barnes has stood out early this season with his advanced athleticism and scoring ability for a freshman. The 6-foot-2 guard went for 30 points and six assists in a recent win over Central Florida Christian.

Devin Cleveland, Kenwood (Illinois)

The 6-foot-1 guard is one of three elite talents from the Chicago area on this list. Cleveland picked up an offer from Illinois after scoring 20 points in Kenwood’s recent win over Warren and fellow freshman standout Jaxson Davis.

Jaxson Davis, Warren (Illinois)

The Proviso West Holiday Tournament has been around for more than 60 years, and Davis just became the first-ever freshman to take home tournament MVP. The 6-foot-1 guard posted 36 points and five assists in the championship victory against Lincoln Park.

Oneal Delancy, Gibbs (Florida)

Delancy looks like he’ll be one of the Sunshine State’s top prospects in the 2027 class. The 6-foot-3 guard is Gibbs’ second leading scorer with 16.3 points per game, and he’s also putting up 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

Shawn Foster, Lima (Ohio)

Foster is already being recruited by Cincinnati, Toledo and Duquesne. The 6-foot-1 guard scored 29 points in Lima’s takedown of Reynoldsburg, one of the top teams in Ohio.

King Gibson, The Burlington School (North Carolina)

Texas A&M was the first college team to offer Gibson, who now has six offers to his name. The 6-foot-4 guard has started his high school career by averaging 10.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Ryan Hampton, Rockwall-Heath (Texas)

Hampton, whose brother is NBA player RJ Hampton, is making a name for himself as a freshman at Rockwall-Heath. The 6-foot-6 forward is averaging nearly 20 points and seven rebounds per game.

Josiah Harrington, North Scott (Iowa)

Harrington looks like an early contender for Iowa’s top player in the class of 2027. The 6-foot-4 guard went for 26 points in a recent 76-74 loss to Davenport West.

Tre Keith, Tri-Cities (Georgia)

Through 21 games, Keith has averaged 21.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game. The 6-foot-3 guard received his first college offer earlier this month from Georgia.

Jaylan Mitchell, Reitz (Indiana)

Mitchell earned offers from Arizona State, Illinois and Missouri prior to his freshman season, and more will be on the way after his standout play this year. The 6-foot-7 wing is averaging near a double-double with 15.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

Keaundre Morris, Curtis (Washington)

Does Curtis have another star guard on its hands? The 6-foot-1 Morris took over at point guard for the Vikings after five-star Zoom Diallo transferred to national powerhouse Prolific Prep for his senior year and has taken advantage of the opportunity.

Xavier Muhammad, South Houston (Texas)

Muhammad has been a double-double machine for the Trojans this season. The 6-foot-5 forward racked up 23 points and 14 rebounds in a November win against Mayde Creek (Texas).

Josiah Nance, Heritage Christian (California)

Nance will be a player to keep close tabs on in California for the 2027 class. The 6-foot-5 guard led Heritage Christian with 15 points in a loss to nationally ranked Harvard-Westlake (California) earlier this month.

Baba Oladotun, Blake (Maryland)

Oladotun was one of four freshmen invited to USA Basketball’s Junior National Team minicamp in October. The 6-foot-7 wing was originally slated to play for national powerhouse DeMatha Catholic but transferred back home to Blake.

Jeremiah Profit, Temecula Valley (California)

An elite scorer, Profit has put up big numbers as a freshman for Temecula Valley. The 6-foot-4 guard dropped 35 points in an early season loss to Riverside Poly.

Gene Roebuck, La Mirada (California)

Roebuck looked every bit like a future five-star during the regular season. The 6-foot-5 guard scored 34 points and 44 points in back-to-back games at The Classic at Damien.

Henry Robinson Jr., Matanzas (Florida)

Robinson went for 54 points in a preseason scrimmage, a sign of things to come for the 6-foot-7 wing. He’s been one of the leading scorers among Florida freshmen this season, posting more than 20 points per game to go with 9.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks.

LJ Smith, Lincolnton (North Carolina)

Smith, who received his first Division 1 offer last month from Radford, puts up big numbers for any player, let alone a freshman. The 6-foot-4 guard averages 32.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game.

Davion Thompson, Bolingbrook (Illinois)

Iowa recently joined Illinois and Washington as college teams to get in early on Thompson’s recruitment. The 6-foot-2 guard went for 31 points in an overtime loss to Metamora, one of the top squads in Illinois.

Darius Wabbington, Sunnyslope (Arizona)

Wabbington was one of four freshmen invited to USA Basketball’s Junior National Team minicamp in October. The 6-foot-9 center is averaging 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for one of the top teams in Arizona.
