We narrowed down 20 standouts from the class of 2027. Which one rises above the rest?

High school basketball seasons are in full swing across the country as many players have asserted themselves in the opening stretch. 

That includes standout freshmen making the most of early opportunities on the high school stage. 

We took a look at the top freshmen girls basketball players across the country, zeroing in on the top 20 standouts from the class of 2027 so far in the 2023-24 season.

TOP 20 FRESHMAN GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYERS IN 2023-24

Kie’Aundria Acree, Monroe (Georgia)

A 6-foot wing, Acree is one of the most heavily recruited freshmen in the country. She is nearly averaging a double-double at 23.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, four steals and 1.5 blocks. 

Cass Antoine, Edna Karr (Louisiana)

Antoine held multiple Division I offers before taking a single shot for Edna Karr. The talented guard is putting up 17 points per game as a freshman. 

Haylen Ayers, University School of Jackson (Tennessee) 

Another blue-chip class of 2027 recruit, Ayers can do it all on the basketball court. A strong diver, shooter and passer, Ayers is averaging 20.5 points per game.

A’zyua Blair, Pearland (Texas)

Blair can play either guard position for a Pearland team that is piling up wins in the Houston metro. She is averaging 16.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 4.2 steals. 

Reece Davis, Deshler (Alabama)

Davis is an explosive scorer who has surpassed the 30-point mark multiple times as a freshman. In a recent win over Wilson, Davis had 32 points, four rebounds, three steals, two assists and 10 deflections.

Lillie Graves, McCutcheon (Indiana)

The 6-foot Graves is another versatile freshman who can play just about anywhere for McCutcheon. She is already one of the best two-way players in Indiana and is averaging 22.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 4.1 steals.

Khalia Hartwell, Westside (South Carolina) 

The 6-foot-5 Hartwell is a defensive anchor for Westside who is blocking nearly four shots per game. She is also putting up 10.1 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Lauren Hassell, Clarksville Christian (Tennessee)

Hassell netted her 1,000th career high school point as an eighth-grader last winter. A coveted college recruit, the 6-foot-3 Hassell is averaging 17.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.8 blocks.

Mia McGregor, Mio-Au Sable (Michigan) 

A small-school star in Northern Michigan, McGregor has been nothing short of spectacular as a freshman for Mio-Au Sable. The do-everything guard is averaging 42 points per game.

Jemini Mitchell, Cypress Springs (Texas)

Mitchell is a two-way standout for Class 6A Texas power Cypress Springs. The 6-foot-2 phenom is putting up 16.2 points, seven rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks.

Sydney Mobley, Olentangy (Ohio)

An unstoppable interior player, Mobley is averaging a double-double at 15.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 3.1 steals and 2.5 blocks. The 6-foot-2 forward had a triple-double in an early season win over Thomas Worthington with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.

Micah Ojo, Princess Anne (Virginia)

Ojo is averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds for Virginia Beach power Princess Anne. In a recent win over Norview, she recorded a rare quadruple-double with 19 points, 12 steals, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Jordyn Palmer, Westtown (Pennsylvania) 

Palmer starred for Westtown as an eighth-grader and is a team leader alongside fellow freshman sensation Jessie Moses, standout junior guard Olivia Jones and others. The 6-foot-1 Palmer has the size and athleticism to play any position on the court.

Finley Parker, River Ridge (Georgia) 

The 6-foot-2 Parker is a versatile wing who has the ability to score in bunches. She is averaging 11.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals.

Iniya Reddicks, Deltona (Florida)

Reddicks is an elite ball-handler who impacts the game in a variety of ways. She is averaging 13.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, three assists and 4.5 steals.

Sydney Savoury, Belleville (Michigan)

Savoury is already a go-to player for Belleville, one of the top programs in Michigan. The 6-foot guard received a scholarship offer from Ohio State at age 12 and is a top class of 2027 national prospect. 

Kaleena Smith, Ontario Christian (California)

Nicknamed “Special K,” Smith is on track to become one of the most prolific scorers in California history. The 5-foot-6 point guard already holds more than 20 Division I offers and is averaging 32.9 points, 6.2 assists and 3.6 steals.

Jordan Speller, North Pitt (North Carolina)

Another talented freshman point guard, Speller is putting up 16.5 points per game for North Pitt. She is also averaging 5.4 assists and 4.1 steals.

Payton Starwalt, Crescent Valley (Oregon)

One of the best pure shooters in her class, Starwalt is knocking down 3-pointers at a 41 percent clip. She is averaging 17.5 points, five assists and five steals for Oregon Class 5A contender Crescent Valley.

TNiyah Wilson-Smith, Bellevue East (Nebraska)

Wilson-Smith netted 35 points in her second career high school game and has kept it going all season. She is putting up 19.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks.
