The nation's top uncommitted high school basketball recruits, five-star combo guard VJ Edgecombe is ready to reveal where he will play his college basketball career.

The Long Island Lutheran (New York) senior is scheduled to announce his commitment during halftime of the top five showdown Sunday night between Montverde Academy (Florida) and Prolific Prep (California) at the Hoophall Classic, which will be televised on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Edgecombe trimmed his long list of college options to three last month, choosing Baylor, Duke and Kentucky as his finalists.

Reports came out Saturday that Kentucky has fallen out of the race for the five star, potentially making it a two-team race between the Bears and Blue Devils entering decision day for the nation's No. 2 combo guard and No. 5 overall recruit in the class of 2024, per the On3 industry ranking.

Edgecombe was named SBLive's National Junior of the Year after leading the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (NIBC) in scoring with 17.3 points per game. He played a pivotal role as a junior in helping Long Island Lutheran to a top five finish in the national rankings.

Edgecombe and Long Island Lutheran have continued their success this season, with the senior leading the Crusaders (11-2) to a current No. 2 ranking in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25.

The No. 2 Crusaders fell to Cameron Boozer and No. 9 Columbus (Florida) on Saturday at the Hoophall Classic for their second loss of the year, but they'll have a chance to get back on track against No. 12 AZ Compass Prep (Arizona) on Monday at the historic Massachusetts event.
