When former Miami Central high school football standout Rueben Bain decided to stay home and play college football for the Miami Hurricanes, many considered it a massive victory for head coach Mario Cristobal and company.

Through the first half of Bain's freshman campaign, it's easy to see why.

Bain came up big for Miami in a 28-20 win over Clemson on Saturday, making several key plays for the Hurricanes in a double-overtime thriller.

The former four-star recruit led Miami with a team-high eight tackles, including two sacks, and he forced a fumble.

This marked the second week in a row Bain forced a fumble. The true freshman has appeared in five games this season, racking up 16 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Bain was the nation's No. 8 defensive lineman and No. 57 overall recruit in the class of 2023, per the On3 industry ranking. He chose Miami over Florida State, Alabama and more.

As a senior at Miami Central, the elite defensive lineman tallied 57 tackles, including 39 tackles for loss and 29 sacks, helping the Rockets capture their fourth consecutive state title.
