California high school signs shoe, apparel deal with Flight Club
The Los Angeles area high school basketball program former NBA star Baron Davis attended is entering a first-of-its kind apparel agreement.
Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California has signed a multi-year jersey and footwear deal with popular sneaker consignment store Flight Club, footwear industry insider Nick DePaula reported Friday morning.
The full extent of the deal is unclear, but Flight Club will reportedly produce jerseys and make exclusive products available to the team and coaches.
“It brings a lot of cachet to the school from a sports perspective," Davis told Footwear News. "Being able to do something outside of the box for the school is a testament to how far they’ve come. They’ve always been on the cutting edge."
The news comes about a week before the Flight Club Invitational at Crossroads, which is slated for Oct. 28-29.
The preseason high school boys basketball tournament will feature a talent-laden field that includes Bryce James, Alijah Arenas and Tajh Ariza, three sons of NBA (and former NBA) players.
Lynwood (California), led by SBLive Freshman All-American Jason Crowe Jr., will also be there.
Before Davis became a two-time NBA All-Star, the South Central Los Angeles native was a Gatorade National Player of the Year, McDonald's and Parade All-American at Crossroads in 1997.
