As part of our end-of-season all-state awards, SBLive will recognize the top players and coaches in Texas high school football for their phenomenal performances during the 2021 season.

The following 12 standout student-athletes have been selected as finalists for SBLive’s 2021 Texas High School Football Player of the Year.

The winners of SBLive’s Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Coach of the Year awards will be unveiled on Jan. 31, along with SBLive’s 2021 All-State Texas Football teams.

But before we unveil our winners, we want your opinion: Who do you think should be the 2021 Texas Football Player of the Year?

Ashton Dubose (San Antonio Brennan) (3,625 passing yards, 53 TD passes on 200-of-317 completion rate; 963 rushing yards, 15 TD runs on 116 carries in 14 GP)

Coy Eakin (Stephenville) — 2,140 receiving yards, 31 TD catches on 93 receptions; 213 rushing yards, four TD runs on 26 carries in 16 GP

Cale Hellums (Tomball) — 1,950 passing yards, 22 TD passes on 160-of-254 completion rate; 1,828 rushing yard, 17 TD runs on 224 carries in 15 GP

Anthony Hill Jr. (Denton Ryan) — 131 total tackles [91 solo], 18 TFLs, eight sacks, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and two defensive TDs in 14 GP

Anthony “AJ” Holmes (Spring Westfield) — 96 total tackles [52 solo], 26 TFLs, 16 sacks, three forced fumbles, two pass deflections, one interception, one fumble recovery, one defensive TD and one blocked punt in 13 GP

Ashton Jeanty (Frisco Lone Star) — 1,843 rushing yards, 31 TD runs on 229 carries; 810 receiving yards, 10 TD catches on 41 receptions in 12 GP

Cade Klubnik (Austin Westlake) — 3,251 passing yards, 43 TD passes on 189-of-265 completion rate; 471 rushing yards, 12 TD runs on 70 carries in 13 GP

Keldric Luster (Frisco Liberty) — 3,435 passing yards, 30 TD passes on 245-of-356 completion rate; 1,579 rushing yards, 23 TD runs on 182 carries in 12 GP

Reuben Owens (El Campo) — 2,989 rushing yards, 46 TD runs on 248 carries; 252 receiving yards, two TD catches on 15 receptions in 13 GP

Harold Perkins (Cypress Park) — 1,352 rushing yards, 21 TD runs on 78 carries; 325 receiving yards, three TD catches on 14 receptions; 35 total tackles, three TFLs, three interceptions, two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one defensive TD and one pass deflection in 10 GP

Cody Rinne (Stratford) — 2,373 passing yards, 21 TD passes on 143-of-221 completion rate; 1,986 rushing yards, 35 TD runs on 255 carries; 183 total tackles [83 solo], six interceptions, five pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 16 GP
