The third week of the 2021 San Diego Section high school football playoffs took place on Friday and Saturday. Carlsbad and Cathedral Catholic battled for the Open Division Championship while Divisions 1-5 played their semifinal round games.

Here’s everything you need to know about the third week of postseason action.

OPEN DIVISION (Bracket)

No. 2 Cathedral Catholic used a dominant offensive performance to take down No. 1 Carlsbad, 48-19. Cathedral Catholic running back Lucky Sutton rushed for 269 yards and three touchdowns. The Dons will have a week off before finding out their opponent in the CIF State regional playoffs next Sunday.

DIVISION 1 (Bracket)

No. 1 Helix beat No. 5 El Camino, 28-7 in one semifinal matchup. Senior Xavier Van caught three touchdown passes and had an interception for the Highlanders.

No. 3 Lincoln jumped out in front of No. 2 Madison, 28-0, and beat the Warhawks, 42-14. Roderick Robinson scored three times on the ground while Oregon commit Jahlil Florence grabbed two interceptions.

DIVISION 2 (Bracket)

No. 4 La Jolla upset No. 1 Mira Mesa, 27-14.

No. 2 Scripps Ranch beat No. 6 Rancho Bernardo, 28-7. Junior quarterback Jax Leatherwood tossed two touchdown passes, giving him 41 for the season.

DIVISION 3 (BRACKET)

No. 4 Ramona took down No. 1 Mt. Carmel, 34-7. The Bulldogs had three sacks and three interceptions.

No. 2 Mater Dei Catholic beat No. 3 Santa Fe Christian, 40-8. The Crusaders have won all ten games by 14 points or more this season.

DIVISION 4 (BRACKET)

No. 1 Patrick Henry took down No. 4 Del Norte in a shootout, 64-48. The Patriots had 529 yards of total offense.

No. 2 University City took down No. 3 Coronado in a rematch from the regular season, 49-15.

DIVISION 5 (BRACKET)

No. 1 Palo Verde Valley held off No. 4 Fallbrook, 29-28.

No. 2 Mission Bay handled No. 6 Calexico, 41-7. Receiver Jacob Sloan caught 12 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns.
