Look: Ramapo (New Jersey) wins football game on controversial Hail Mary
The Ramapo (New Jersey) high school football team pulled off a dramatic, last-minute comeback Friday night to defeat Somers (New York) and improve to 2-0 this season.
But should the game-winning Hail Mary have counted as a touchdown?
Ramapo trailed by eight points with 19 seconds left against Somers, when the Raiders scored on a touchdown pass from Landon DePrima to Brandon Del Valle. Following a failed attempt to tie the game with a two-point conversion, they were forced to try an onside kick.
The Raiders recovered the onside kick, and as time expired, DePrima connected with Gavin Taylor on a Hail Mary to win the game 38-34.
A closer look at the game-winning score, however, shows Taylor coming down just short of the goal line before rolling into the end zone. The nearest official signaled for a touchdown, and Ramapo rushed the field to celebrate a victory now going viral around the country.

There's no instant replay in high school football (in most states, at least), so the ruling on the field stood as called and the game ended with Ramapo on top.
