Andale out, John Milledge Academy in as high school football's active win streak leader

Kansas superpower's win streak ends at 57, while Georgia juggernaut extends its streak to 56

Andale High School football players experienced something new Friday night.

They lost.

It was the first time any player on the Kansas high school football superpower's squad had ever lost a game playing for Andale.

Cheney won 36-30 on an overtime touchdown from Jackson Voth, ending the longest active winning streak in the nation in high school football at 57.

John Milledge Academy in Georgia is the new leader in the race for longest current win streak in high school football.

The Trojans are 7-0 this season and have won 56 consecutive games after beating Stratford Academy 40-6 on Friday. They broke Buford's state record of 47 straight (2001-04) last year.

John Milledge Academy has a long way to go to catch the overall leader for longest high school football winning streak ever.

Concord De La Salle in Northern California holds the record with 151 consecutive wins from 1992 to 2003.

Cheney came back from a 22-0 deficit to tie Andale at 22 and again at 30 to force overtime.

It's the first time Cheney had beaten Andale since 1998.

Andale has won the last four Class 3A state championships and is coming off a 13-0 season in which the Indians gave up only 63 points the whole year.

One of those wins was an incredible 108-0 drubbing of Nickerson.

Andale and Cheney could meet again in the Class 3A playoffs.

The high school football playoff season in Kansas starts Oct. 26, while Georgia has to wait until Nov. 10.
