Thompson vs. Clay-Chalkville on ESPN: How to watch, live score updates (9/28/2023)

Freshman phenom quarterback Trent Seaborn makes his national TV debut on ESPN's high school football showcase

The bright lights will be on Thompson (Alabama) and freshman quarterback Trent Seaborn on ESPN Thursday night high school football.

Something will have to give Sept. 28 as undefeated Thompson hosts fellow unbeaten Clay-Chalkville (Alabama) in a game televised nationally on ESPN2 and on the NFHS Network.

Thompson is honorably mentioned in the national SBLive/Sports Illustrated Top 25, and Clay-Chalkville can earn the same honor or possibly more with a win.

Each team has won all their games by double digits, and last week Seaborn even had some time to play saxophone with the Thompson band.

Thompson (Alabama)

Thompson eked out a 17-14 win last season over Clay-Chalkville, and the Warriors will lean on defense again this year.

They're giving up only 7.5 points per game heading into Thursday.

Seaborn, who led Thompson to its fourth consecutive state championship last year as an eighth-grader, is already piling up Power 5 offers.

Three-star senior quarterback Zach Sims should also get some air time Thursday.

Clay-Chalkville (Alabama)

Five-star senior athlete Jaylen Mbakwe is expected to play wide receiver for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but he's shifted to quarterback for Clay-Chalkville.

Thompson's defense is really good, but it will need to be great to contain Mbakwe and the Cougars.

And Clay-Chalkville's defense — led by senior linebacker and Auburn commit DJ Barber — has been stellar through five games, allowing just 4.8 points per game.
