Photos: Calvary Christian Academy (Florida) races past Auburn (Washington) 71-44 in State Champions Invitational boys title game
TAMPA, Fla. - With five players scoring in double figures, Calvary Christian Academy (Florida) raced past Auburn (Washington) 71-44 on Saturday afternoon in championship game of the inaugural State Champions Invitational boys basketball tournament at Berkeley Preparatory School.
The Eagles, winners of the FHSAA 4A state championship last month, finished with 26-2 record.
Carl Cherenfant led Calvary Christian with 14 points and added seven rebounds. Brenen Lorient and Taylor Hendricks, who was named the tournament MVP, contributed 13 points each. Lorient grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Marvel Allen and Gregg Glenn finished with 12 points each for the Eagles.
Calvary Christian outscored the Trojans 26-11 in the opening period and never looked back.
Maleek Arlington led Auburn (28-3) with a game-high 17 points - including hitting on three 3-pointers. Trevon Blassingame had 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
