Nick Saban visits high school of top uncommitted Missouri edge rusher

Jayshawn Ross is one of the top uncommitted senior edge rushers

Liberty North senior edge rusher Jayshawn Ross had a big day Saturday as he helped the Eagles win the first football championship in school history.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder had five tackles, three quarterback hits, two sacks and blocked a punt in the second quarter that led to the go-ahead touchdown in a 38-7 win over CBC in the Class 6 title game.

On Tuesday, Alabama coach Nick Saban was in the Kansas City area recruiting and visited Ross' high school – Liberty North.

Ross, who recorded 15 sacks in 13 games this season, reported an offer from Alabama on his Twitter/X account on October 20 and was wearing Alabama gloves during his team's championship game on Saturday night.

According to 247Sports, Ross took an official visit to Alabama on November 4. He also took an official visit to Nebraska in September and to Kansas State in October.

A four-star prospect considered one of the top 250 prospects in the Class of 2024, Ross has had a bit of an unusual recruiting process because he transferred schools – from St. Pius X in Kansas City to Liberty North – during his junior season and it was uncertain which schools were still heavily recruiting him.

Ross has received scholarship offers from more than two dozen of the top programs in college football over the past few years, but in recent months has been most closely linked to Alabama, Kansas State and Nebraska.

Liberty North teammate Keelan Smith has committed to Nebraska.

Ross is the top uncommitted prospect in the loaded Class of 2024 in Missouri that includes Lee's Summit North defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri (Missouri), St. Louis University High wide receiver Ryan Wingo (Texas), CBC wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan (Ohio State), Raymore-Peculiar tight end Jaden Reddell (Georgia), Rockhurst offensive tackle Andrew Sprague (Michigan), Hannibal running back Aneyas Williams (Notre Dame), Glendale edge rusher Kellen Lindstrom (Tennessee) and Hazelwood Central defensive lineman Tionne Gray (Oregon) among others.
