Talan Chandler flips from Colorado to Missouri: 'Mizzou was my dream school'
Talan Chandler couldn't resist the opportunity to stay home.
A three-star senior interior offensive lineman at Nevada High School, Chandler flipped his verbal commitment from Colorado to the University of Missouri on Sunday.
"Really the biggest thing is Mizzou was my dream school," Chandler said. "Being able to stay close to home and play in the SEC is an unbelievable opportunity. I know so many guys on the team and the coaching staff is amazing. It really feels like home. Also the way they have developed their offensive line this year is incredible."
A 6-foot-3, 295-pound senior, Chandler committed to Colorado on February 3 after receiving an offer from Coach Deion Sanders' Buffaloes less than a month earlier.
Colorado was the first Power 5 school to offer the Missouri native. He also received offers from UNLV, Northern Iowa, Missouri State and Eastern Michigan.
Missouri offered Chandler on November 10, according to 247Sports, and 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong changed his Crystal Ball pick from Colorado to Missouri the next day.
Chandler is rated by 247Sports as the 15th-best prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2024 and the 64th-best interior offensive lineman prospect nationally in the senior class.
Chandler played his first two high school seasons at Lutheran St. Charles and helped the Cougars win the Missouri Class 2 championship in 2021 as a sophomore – the school's first football state title.
His family moved and he transferred to Nevada High School in Southwest Missouri for his final two years of high school and helped the Tigers go 9-3 in both of his seasons there.
Chandler now joins a University of Missouri recruiting class that includes Lee's Summit North defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri, Washington offensive tackle Ryan Jostes, Francis Howell athlete Jude James and Joplin tight end Whit Hafer.
The Tigers, who were No. 9 in the College Football Playoff rankings last week, improved to 9-2 with a dramatic 33-31 comeback victory against visiting Florida on Saturday.
