Here are the candidates for SBLive's Missouri High School Athlete of the Week as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff.

Jermonte Alexander, Caruthersville football
Alexanders scored four times in the Tigers' 54-6 win over Charleston on Thursday. He had a 55-yard punt return, a 32-yard touchdown catch, a 90-yard touchdown run and a 90-yard interception return for a score, which was his second interception of the game.
Josie Alspaw, Lafayette (Wildwood) softball
The right-handed pitcher struck out 11 and gave up only one hit in an 11-0 victory over Webster Groves on Wednesday.
Avery Basler, St. Michael the Archangel girls golf
The Guardians standout punched a return trip to the state meet by winning the Class 2 District 4 meet, shooting 73 to win medalist honors. The Guardians also won the district title.
Sammi Bergjans, Incarnate Word girls volleyball
The senior helped the Red Knights win the Jackson Tournament and earlier in the week broke the school's career assist record with No. 2,197 in a win against St. Pius X Festus.
Klara Bulla, Lutheran St. Charles softball
She hit home runs No. 3 and 4 on the season, while adding a double and an intentional walk, in a 10-3 win against Fort Zumwalt North on Wednesday.
DJ Burgess, Parkway Central football
The senior running back had five touchdown runs in a 48-7 win over Northwest Cedar Hill, adding three of those scores in the second half. He finished with 205 yards rushing on 26 carries.
Mallory Crane, Grain Valley girls golf
She shot a 76 to take first place at the Suburban Conference White Division championship tournament on Monday.
Morgan Crist, Highland girls golf
In the first-ever Clarence Cannon Conference girls golf championship, she won the medalist honors and the Lady Cougars won the team title on Monday.
Marlee Edgeman, Marshfield girls golf
She carded a 67 to win the Big 8 Conference golf championship for the second season in a row. She was the runner-up at district later in the week, earning a fourth trip to the state meet.
Gabe Fields, St. Joseph Central football
The standout running back accounted for five touchdowns in a 48-12 win over Excelsior Springs. He ran for 220 yards and four scores and added 118 yards receiving and another score for the 6-1 Indians.
Teddy Franke, Rockhurst boys soccer
He had a pair of goals to help the Hawklets pick up a 5-1 win over Bishop Miege (Kansas) in the 810 Varsity Soccer Showcase on Saturday.
Brooke Gerling, St. Joseph Central softball
The Lady Indians’ catcher went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and seven RBIs in a 13-2 win over Truman on Monday.
Sophie Grier, West Platte softball
She hit home run No. 5 on the season, which was a grand slam, and finished with seven RBIs in a 14-3 win over Lathrop on Thursday.
Macie Hunolt, Troy Buchanan softball
The left-handed hurler set a new school record for career strikeouts when she recorded No. 679 on Wednesday in a 14-2 win against Palmyra. Kiersten Nixon held the previous record at 673.
Kaleiah Johnson, Nevada softball
The Lady Tigers' shortstop was 3-for-3 with a double and two home runs and drove in seven runs in a 16-0 win over Carl Junction on Wednesday.
Bradi Keller, Monroe City girls cross country
She ran 20:25.56 to take second place at the Brian T. Simpson Invitational on Saturday, breaking the school’s record and helping the Lady Panthers take first place.
Carleigh Kinnaird, Neosho softball
The Lady Wildcats locked up the Central Ozark Conference title with a 3-1 win over Carthage on Tuesday. Kinnaird struck out 19 and allowed just four hits and no earned runs in an 8-inning victory. She aided her cause with an RBI single in the top of the eighth.
Addie Morris, Rock Bridge softball
She hit home run No. 19 on the season in a 17-2 win over Sedalia Smith-Cotton on Wednesday, breaking the school record she previously held with Anna Christ.
Chase Morris, Southern Boone football
The Eagles extended their school-record winning streak to six games with a 54-24 win over Hallsville. Morris had an 18-yard touchdown catch and later added an interception on defense. He also broke school's career record for receiving yards.
Isaiah Mozee, Lee’s Summit North football
The junior standout hauled in nine catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns from quarterback Elijah Leonard as the Broncos rolled to a 38-20 win over Liberty.
Charlie Murray, St. Louis University High boys cross country
The senior won the Metro Catholic Conference championships with a time of 16:34 during the race held on Thursday. The Jr. Bills won the conference title for the 20th year in a row.
Jaela Nickerson, Jefferson City softball
Down 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Nickerson came up clutch with a two-run single that helped the Lady Jays rally for a 3-2 win over Sedalia Smith-Cotton on Monday.
Zane Novinger, Nixa boys cross country
The sophomore won the 22nd Annual Cedar Ridge Invitational on Saturday, part of a 1-2-3 finish for the Eagles.
Arianna Nower, West Platte girls volleyball
The returning all-stater recorded career ace No. 200 in a 3-0 win against Plattsburg in a KCI Conference clash on Thursday.
Robby Preckel, Lafayette (Wildwood) football
A junior wide receiver, Preckel caught 12 passes for 218 yards – both career highs – and two touchdowns in the Lancers' 28-21 win over rival Eureka.
Derek Quinlin, Maryville football
The senior had a touchdown pass in the first quarter and added two touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to help Maryville beat Class 4 No. 1-ranked Lutheran North on Saturday.
Emma Ray, Waynesville softball
She continued to add to her school record in strikeouts (now 257) and added three home runs in games against Logan-Rogersville and Hillcrest on Saturday. She fanned 17 in a 9-0 win against Hillcrest.
Addison Simpson, Webster Groves girls tennis
The junior won in singles and doubles to help the Statesmen pick up a 5-0 win over Mehlville in the Class 2 District 2 meet. The win was No. 13 on the year for the team, breaking the program record. Webster Groves beat Nerinx Hall to win its first district title in program history.
Kaiden Weisbrod, Jackson softball
The Southwest Baptist pledge recorded stolen base No. 73 in a 15-1 win over North County on Tuesday and broke the MSHSAA single-season stolen base record. The previous mark was 72, set by Kickapoo’s Taylor Akers last year.
Welle Welle Jr., Carthage boys soccer
The senior set a new single-season assist record with his 16th in a game on Tuesday — breaking the mark held by current assistant coach Jorge Guevara from 2015.
Aneyas Williams, Hannibal football
A senior running back and Notre Dame commit, Williams scored all four touchdowns for the Pirates in a 28-8 win over Moberly. He had two touchdowns on the ground and caught two touchdown passes from Waylon Anders.
St. Joseph’s Academy's Paige Jackson voted SBLive's Missouri High School Athlete of the Week (Sept. 25-Oct. 1)
Congratulations to St. Joseph’s Academy field hockey's Paige Jackson, who was voted the SBLive Missouri high school Athlete of the Week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1. She received more than 40 percent of the votes.
Jackson, a senior goalie, made 10 saves and stopped every shot in a shootout as the Angels rallied to defeat rival Villa Duchesne 3-2 in overtime on Saturday.
Warrenton football player Chance McPike II finished second in the voting after receiving more than 28 percent of the votes.
