Game 1: Callaway 74, Central Hinds 55

Braxton Ward and Derek Byrd combined for 35 points to lead the Chargers past the Cougars in a game that got lop-sided early. Callaway (11-13) led it 20-6 after the first quarter and 39-24 at the half.

The Chargers truly pulled away in the third quarter, out-scoring the Cougars 25-8. Wesley Lindsey had 15 point to lead Central Hinds (9-12).

Game 2: Ridgeland 56, Harrison Central 51

Phil Nelson dropped 18 points and Ebo Wilson just missed a double-double with nine points and 17 rebounds as the Titans (17-7) put together a fourth-quarter rally to pull out their third win in a row.

Harrison Central out-scored the Titans 15-11 in the third quarter to take a 36-34 lead into the fourth, but Ridgeland took the lead with three minutes to go and made all their free throws down the stretch. Aujaylen Barron had 10 points to lead Harrison Central (15-8).

Game 3: Madison-Ridgeland Academy 50, Raymond 48

The Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots hit the brakes on a two-game skid and put a huge pelt on the wall with a 50-48 win over perennial MHSAA powerhouse Raymond in the first afternoon game.

Reigning Mr. Basketball Eric Paymon, Jr. had 30 points for Raymond (20-4), but it wasn’t enough to lift the Rangers — widely considered one of, if not the best, teams in the state —over the Patriots.

Game 4: Jackson Academy 80, Madison Central 48

Mike Williams scored 24 points, his brother Mason chipped in 11 and Jackson Academy rolled past Madison Central 80-48. The Raiders (24-1) out-scored the Jaguars (15-7) in each of the four quarters. They led it 20-6 after the first and 40-15 at the halftime break.

Tyler Lyles had 12 points off the bench for the Raiders, who ran their winning streak to double digits with the victory. Elijah White had 14 points to lead Madison Central.

Game 5: Presbyterian Christian 60, Provine 55

The teams that represent the highest classification in the MAIS are having a banner day. The Presbyterian Christian Bobcats (21-6) became the latest 6A private-school team to win thanks to big performances from stars Turner Vance and Brooks Roberts.

The Bobcats' dynamic duo combined for 31 points, with Vance chipping in seven assists and six rebounds. The two teams played to a 17-17 tie in the first quarter. By halftime, Provine (15-5) had built a 32-28 lead.

But the Rams were short-handed, dressing only seven players for Saturday's game, and the fatigue caught up with them in the second half. PCS outscored Provine 32-23 in the second half.

Game 6: Pascagoula 60, Yazoo City 59

Blake Nettles scored 14 points and the Panthers (21-1) held off a furious fourth-quarter rally from Yazoo City in the night cap.

Pascagoula was in complete control for the first three quarters, and took a 49-31 lead into the fourth. Yazoo City (18-3) came alive with 28 points in the final eight minutes, but it was too little, too late for the defending MHSAA 5A state champs.

Pascagoula's Kelan Rich went one-for-one at the free throw line with six seconds to go to give the Panthers the four-point advantage, which made the three-pointer Yazoo City star Demarion Winston hit with two seconds to go a footnote.

Nettles was one of four Panthers in double figures scoring. Chris North finished with 13 points and Dorian McMillian and Markuese Grady both chipped in 10.

Winston scored a game-high 33 points for the Indians. The defending MHSAA 5A state champs suffered their first loss in nearly a calendar month.
