Hill rushed for 352 yards and three touchdowns on just 22 carries in the Tigers' win over Petal

Congratulations to Meridian tailback Daniel Hill on winning the fan vote for SBLive’s Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week!

Hill rushed for 352 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries in a 27-8 win over Petal. His performance garnered more than 40,000 votes from fans across the Magnolia State, representing 51.66 percent of the nearly 78,000 total votes cast.

His finally tally was enough to top Oak Grove running back Tajii Burkett, who received 32,561 votes (41.75 percent). Florence tailback Xzavion Quick finished third with 3,963 votes.

Rushed for 232 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries in a 34-7 win over East Central.

Tajii Burkett, RB, Oak Grove

Rushed for 201 yards on 13 carries and brought in three receptions for 35 yards with three total touchdowns in a 45-15 win over Northwest Rankin.

Taurean Davis, ATH, DeSoto Central

Recorded 12 tackles, including four for a loss, with one sack and two forced fumbles on defense and added a 69-yard touchdown run on offense in a 35-21 win over Hernando.

Julien Demby, LB, Warren Central

Intercepted two passes to go along with 14 tackles, including one for a loss, in the Vikings’ 27-3 win over Neshoba Central.

Gavin Griffin, RB, Velma Jackson

Rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns on just 10 carries, caught two passes for 36 yards and a score and returned one kickoff and one punt for touchdowns in a 73-7 win over French Camp.

Daniel Hill, RB, Meridian

Rushed for 352 yards and three touchdowns on just 22 carries in a 27-8 win over Petal.

Jamaurion McQueen, WR, Brandon

Brought in eight receptions for 158 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-20 win over Pearl.

Xzavion Quick, RB, Florence

Rushed for 232 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries in the Eagles’ 35-20 win over Natchez.

Jalen Washington, RB, Houston

Rushed for 341 yards and three touchdowns on just 26 carries in a 54-35 win over Kosciusko.
