The Washburn Millers (19-2) won a top-5 matchup against the previously undefeated Breck Mustangs (21-1) 66-64 last week. The win jumps the Millers to No. 4 in Minnesota high school boys basketball Power 25.

No. 1 Wayzata (20-1)

This week’s games: Feb. 12 vs. No. 19 Edina (12-8), Feb. 15 vs. No. 8 Hopkins (15-4)
Ranking rationale: The Trojans are 4-for-4 in February with a pair of conference wins coming last week. Head coach Bryan Schnettler’s squad dispatched Buffalo (11-9) 60-47 on the road and returned home to hold off Eden Prairie (7-15) 85-80.
Jackson McAndrew led with 16 points vs. the Bison. It looked like the Trojans were going to cruise against the Eagles up nine at halftime but had to hang on late. McAndrew dropped 30 to lead the way. Wayzata may have to tighten up against tougher competition. It’ll be hungry to avenge its lone loss of the season against Hopkins.
No. 2 Totino-Grace (18-3)

This week’s games: Feb. 14 at Rogers (15-6), Feb. 16 vs. Champlin Park (11-10), Feb. 17 at No. 6 Minnetonka (16-3)
Ranking rationale: Totino-Grace’s win streak keeps on climbing. The Eagles are up to lucky number 13 after cruising last week 87-52 vs. Centennial (5-16) and 78-62 vs. Eastview (3-16). Ten wins on their streak have come by double digits.
Totino-Grace is three wins away from a perfect record in a deep Northwest Suburban Conference. With a sweep of No. 3 Park Center (19-2) already in the bag and two of the last three NSC games coming at home, going unbeaten seems likely.
No. 3 Park Center (19-2)

This week’s games: Feb. 14 at Spring Lake Park (11-9), Feb. 16 vs. Andover (8-13)
Ranking rationale: Park Center took to task one of the upstart teams in the top third of the Northwest Suburban Conference. The host Pirates led by 17 at halftime en route to a 90-70 win in their lone game last week vs. Rogers (15-6). Future Washington Husky Casmir “Cash” Chavis starred with 39 points. Park Center has no games remaining against current Power 25 teams, so a 6-0 finish to the regular season could be in the cards.
No. 4 Minneapolis Washburn (19-2)

This week’s games: Feb. 12 at Minneapolis Roosevelt (9-10), Feb. 14 vs. Minneapolis North (13-8), Feb. 15 vs. Buffalo (11-9)
Ranking rationale: Minneapolis Washburn pulled off one of the biggest wins anyone’s recorded all season. The Millers did what a pair of top-10 teams like No. 6 Minnetonka (16-3) and No. 8 Hopkins (15-4) could not do, and that’s beat previous No. 4 Breck (21-1). Washburn handed Breck its first loss of the season by winning a thriller at home, 66-64.
Colorado State commit Kyle Jorgensen led with 28 points. Washburn has won five in a row. Last week, it also won 70-56 vs. Minneapolis South (14-3) and 76-38 at Minneapolis Henry (6-11) to move to 10-0 in the Minneapolis City Conference.
No. 5 Breck (21-1)
Last week’s ranking: 4
This week’s games: Feb. 14 at Eastview (3-16)
Ranking rationale: Breck was oh-so-close to an undefeated regular season. The Mustangs have been getting everyone’s best shot, including Minneapolis Washburn (18-2), which jumped five spots to No. 4 this week. Breck lost a 66-64 heartbreaker at Washburn in an intriguing late season nonconference matchup.
Perhaps the writing was on the wall given how the Mustangs struggled a few days prior to put away St. Agnes (13-7) in a 76-72 win. A 42-point effort from Daniel Freitag saved the day. That came after a 100-50 doubling of Brooklyn Center (2-18). It’s still been an impressive season for this 2A squad with top-10 wins over current No. 6 Minnetonka (16-3) and No. 8 Hopkins (15-4).
No. 6 Minnetonka (16-3)
Last week’s ranking: 5
This week’s games: Feb. 12 at Buffalo (11-9), Feb. 15 at Eden Prairie (7-15), Feb. 17 vs. No. 2 Totino-Grace (18-3)
Ranking rationale: Minnetonka drops a spot only due to Minneapolis Washburn vaulting up to the top-10 with its win vs. previous No. 4 Breck (21-1). It was a great week for the Skippers, who won a great non-conference matchup vs. previous No. 6 Shakopee (16-4), 81-79 in a Saturday matinee thriller. Tonka erased a 38-31 halftime deficit and was led on the night by a 27-point game by Andy Stefonowicz.
Even without one of its injured stars in Jordan Cain, head coach Bryce Tesdahl keeps guiding his team to big wins. Earlier in the week, the Skippers gutted out a 69-63 win at No. 16 Cretin-Derham Hall (15-4). Greyson Uelmen starred with 28 points. With Cain in the lineup and scoring a game-high 17 points, Tonka opened last week with a 71-50 vs. St. Michael-Albertville (9-11).
No. 7 Shakopee (16-4)
Last week’s ranking: 6
This week’s games: Feb. 13 at Rosemount (7-12), Feb. 16 at Eagan (11-9)
Ranking rationale: Shakopee had its four-game win streak snapped last week. The Sabers can at least hold their heads high with how well they pushed Class 4A, Section 2, rival No. 6 Minnetonka (16-3) in an 81-79 road loss. Shakopee led 38-31 at halftime but could not pull it out. It was a bit of a missed opportunity as Minnetonka was without one of its top starters, Jordan Cain.
Jalen Langsy did all he could with 26 points in the losing effort. Earlier in the week, Shako won 83-60 at an Apple Valley (11-9) team that’s sniffed around the top 25 this season, as well as 84-65 vs. Eastview (3-16). Those wins helped the Sabers stay in a tie for the top of the South Suburban Conference with Lakeville North at 10-2.
No. 8 Hopkins (15-4)
Last week’s ranking: 7
This week’s games: Feb. 12 at Southwest Christian (13-6), Feb. 15 at No. 1 Wayzata (20-1)
Ranking rationale: Hopkins drops a spot thanks to previous No. 9 Minneapolis Washburn (18-2) doing what Hopkins fell just shy of earlier this season, and that’s knock off previous No. 4 Breck (21-1). The Royals did nothing to hurt their case last week by winning 80-65 vs. Eden Prairie (7-15) and cooling down a red-hot Edina (12-8) team that beat it earlier this season with a 69-59 victory. Anthony Smith led with 28 points vs. EP.
He led again with 22 against Edina to help his team pull away from a 34-33 halftime advantage. Those two Lake Conference wins helped Hopkins stay within a game of Wayzata, a team it will look to sweep this Friday.
No. 9 Mankato East (19-1)

This week’s games: Feb. 13 at Faribault (10-9), Feb. 16 vs. Rochester Mayo (9-10)
Ranking rationale: Mankato East hasn’t had a lot of chances at big resume-boosting wins lately, but there’s something to be said the way the Cougars keep winning big and avoiding slip-ups. The win streak has risen to 14 after adding to the tally last week 90-36 at Albert Lea (1-21) and 76-42 vs. an Owatonna (13-7) team that was in the Power 25 earlier this season.
Class 3A is loaded this year, but East is a team that could be in the mix to hoist the trophy in March. It is 11-0 vs. 3A foes with notable neutral court wins vs. Alexandria (15-5) and No. 14 Stewartville (18-3).
No. 10 Farmington (15-5)
Last week’s ranking: 12
This week’s games: Feb. 13 at Burnsville (3-17), Feb. 17 vs. No. 11 Lakeville North (15-5)
Ranking rationale: Farmington has battled its way back to the top 10. The Tigers bounced back from an 0-2 record (albeit against top-15 teams) a couple weeks ago to a 2-0 mark last week.
They dominated Eastview (3-16) 73-34 on the road and returned home to beat a former Power 25 foe, Eagan (11-9), 82-71. Brandon Hrncir led with 22 points vs. Eastview and Ryan Beckwith guided Farmington with 19 against Eagan. Farmington gets the nod for No. 10 above Lakeville North due to a head-to-head win, but these teams could potentially swap if North salvages the season split.
No. 11 Lakeville North (15-5)
Last week’s ranking: 10
This week’s games: Feb. 13 vs. No. 12 Lakeville South (14-6), Feb. 17 at No. 10 Farmington (15-5)
Ranking rationale: It’s hard to separate the top four teams in the South Suburban Conference. They all slot in the Power 25 from Nos. 7 to No. 12, including consecutively at 10-12. This week could provide clarity both for the title race and for ranking purposes with lots of head-to-head matchups. North heads into a pair of pivotal games with confidence after a 2-0 record last week.
The Panthers beat up on the bottom half of the SSC with an 85-60 win vs. Rosemount (7-12) and 86-56 win at Prior Lake (8-12). Jack Robison led with 22 points against the Irish and Matt Drake was tops with 25 vs. the Lakers.
No. 12 Lakeville South (14-6)
Last week’s ranking: 13
This week’s games: Feb. 13 at No. 11 Lakeville North (15-5), Feb. 16 vs. Apple Valley (11-9)
Ranking rationale: The Cougars have a golden opportunity to continue their climb up the Power 25 and salvage a season split with their crosstown rival this week. Lakeville South is brimming with confidence on a five-game win streak.
It added two wins to its tally last week, 50-44 at Eagan (11-9) and 96-49 vs. Burnsville (3-17). Ryan Johnson led with 18 points in the Eagan win and Keaton Ressler was the man with 22 against Burnsville. This is a deep team with several players who can beat you.
No. 13 Waconia (16-4)
Last week’s ranking: 14
This week’s games: Feb. 13 at Bloomington Jefferson (3-17), Feb. 16 at Orono (11-9)
Ranking rationale: Waconia took care of business last week to keep within shouting distance of the Metro West Conference title. It’s two games behind unbeaten No. 17 Benilde-St. Margaret’s (12-8) with the second of two meetings between the two coming up next week. The Wildcats won 80-62 vs. St. Louis Park (10-10) and 88-70 at New Prague (5-15). WIlliam Kirsch led with 28 points in the latter.
No. 14 Stewartville (18-3)
Last week’s ranking: 15
This week’s games: Feb. 13 vs. Rochester Lourdes (6-15), Feb. 15 vs. Byron (17-5)
Ranking rationale: Stewartville is one step closer to a perfect record in the Hiawatha Valley League, which has some solid teams in the top half of the standings. The Tigers won 67-35 vs. Kasson-Mantorville (7-14) after picking up a nice non-conference win earlier in the week, 61-55 at Mankato West (16-5). Head coach Parker Lyga has guided his team to 12 straight victories.
No. 15 DeLaSalle (14-7)
Last week’s ranking: 17
This week’s games: Feb. 13 vs. Brooklyn Center (2-18), Feb. 15 at Columbia Heights (14-4), Feb. 17 vs. No. 16 Cretin-Derham Hall (15-4)
Ranking rationale: There were no let downs last week after coming up a point shy against No. 1 Wayzata (20-1) a week prior. DeLaSalle won all three of its games last week. It prevailed 75-55 vs. Holy Angels (5-16) and 65-34 at Bloomington Kennedy (4-16) to remain tied at the top of the Tri-Metro Conference with Columbia Heights, a team it will look to sweep this week.
The Islanders also picked up an 86-76 overtime win in Moorhead against Fargo North (11-6). Fargo North is a team receiving votes just outside of North Dakota’s Feb. 7 top-five Division AA poll, the state’s biggest division.
Jaeden Udean led with 23 points vs. Holy Angels, Justin Johnson led with 13 at Kennedy and Jaden Morgan led with 22 points against Fargo North.
No. 16 Cretin-Derham Hall (15-4)
Last week’s ranking: 16
This week’s games: Feb. 13 at Woodbury (9-12), Feb. 15 vs. White Bear Lake (3-16), Feb. 17 at No. 15 DeLaSalle (14-7)
Ranking rationale: The Raiders let a big opportunity slip by against a shorthanded top-10 squad in a 69-63 loss vs. previous No. 5 Minnetonka (16-3). The visiting Skippers were missing injured star senior, Jordan Cain. CD-H was down just 32-31 at halftime. Joe Mitchell led with 27 points and nearly went toe-to-toe with Tonka’s Greyson Uelmen, who had 28.
On the bright side, the Raiders stayed on top of the Suburban East Conference standings with a 73-60 win at Roseville (12-9). Mitchell had perhaps his best week of the season to drop 34 in that one. CD-H has lost just one true road game all season.
No. 17 Benilde-St. Margaret's (12-8)
Last week’s ranking: 18
This week’s games: Feb. 13 at St. Louis Park (10-10), Feb. 16 vs. No. 23 Chanhassen (10-9)
Ranking rationale: Benilde-St. Margaret’s is four games above .500 for the first time all season. The Red Knights got to feast on a couple weak opponents last week after a daunting schedule the rest of the season. B-SM won 71-43 vs. New Prague (5-15) and 101-68 at Bloomington Jefferson (3-17). Jalen Wilson led with 21 points vs. New Prague.
No. 18 Maple Grove (13-7)
Last week’s ranking: 20
This week’s games: Feb. 14 at Anoka (11-9), Feb. 16 vs. No. 25 Robbinsdale Armstrong (12-8)
Ranking rationale: Maple Grove won both its games last week to up its win streak to five. It started with a 73-64 win vs. Northwest Suburban Conference foe Andover (8-13). Henry Stang led with 26 points and was a couple assists shy of a double-double.
The solid week continued with a 75-70 win vs. St. Cloud Tech (14-6), a team that was destined for a debut in the Power 25 had it won. The talented senior guard Stang dropped 38 points against the Tigers. That wasn’t even a game high. Tameron Ferguson dropped 42 in an entertaining non-conference matchup.
No. 19 Edina (12-8)
Last week’s ranking: 19
This week’s games: Feb. 12 at No. 1 Wayzata (20-1), Feb. 15 at St. Michael-Albertville (9-11)
Ranking rationale: Despite a loss in the Hornets’ lone game last week, it’s hard to move them down. They were previously on a five-game win streak and have been one of the state’s top teams since the calendar flipped to 2024. The loss was to a top-10 team it already knocked off earlier this season, coming 69-59 at then-No. 7 Hopkins (15-4).
Edina’s the only team to hold Hopkins under 70 points all season, and it’s done it twice. Edina was down just 34-33 at halftime of the rematch, but it couldn’t find enough offense in the second half to survive. Daniel Molhoek led the squad with 17 points for the night.
No. 20 East Ridge (13-7)
Last week’s ranking: 21
This week’s games: Feb. 13 vs. Irondale (2-19), Feb. 16 at Stillwater (11-10)
Ranking rationale: A poor non-conference record and a down Suburban East Conference this season has hindered East Ridge from climbing too high in the Power 25. However, the Raptors look like a team that’s peaking at the right time. Their win streak surged to nine after winning its lone game last week, 83-49 vs. Park of Cottage Grove (10-9).
East Ridge was up 24 at halftime. Charlie Theis led with 20 points. East Ridge can defend its SEC title by going unbeaten the rest of the way and with a loss by leader and No. 16 Cretin-Derham Hall (15-4).
No. 21 Osseo (14-8)
Last week’s ranking: 11
This week’s games: Feb. 16 vs. Anoka (11-9)
Ranking rationale: A 10-spot drop could be a bit too precipitous, but the Orioles have not been playing good ball lately. They suffered losses in two of three games last week and in five of their last seven. Osseo fell 60-54 vs. Spring Lake Park (11-9).
It took a two-day trip to Moorhead for the Red River Round up where it edged out the host Spuds (9-11) 84-82 and lost to Fargo Davies (13-4) 61-55. Davies is ranked No. 4 in the Feb. 7 Division AA ranking in North Dakota. That’s North Dakota’s top classification.
No. 22 Delano (17-4)
Last week’s ranking: 22
This week’s games: Feb. 13 at Mound Westonka (8-11), Feb. 16 Big Lake (11-9)
Ranking rationale: While they weren’t against Power 25 foes, Delano still picked up a couple impressive wins last week to maintain its spot in the Power 25. It won the all-Tigers matchup 75-51 vs. Hutchinson (14-6) and 65-60 vs. Southwest Christian (13-6).
This keeps Delano tied at the top of the Wright County Conference’s East division standings with Holy Family, a team it lost to and will soon face again. Max Iversen dropped 36 points against Hutch and 20 more against Southwest Christian.
No. 23 Chanhassen (10-9)
Last week’s ranking: 23
This week’s games: Feb. 13 at Chaska (7-13), Feb. 16 at No. 17 Benilde-St. Margaret’s (12-8)
Ranking rationale: Chanhassen now has winning and losing streaks of four this season. Fortunately for the Storm, the better of the two streaks is occurring now as they’ve shown to be one of the most improved teams of the latter half of 2023-24. Last week, Chan won 82-67 vs. Bloomington Jefferson (3-17) and 88-84 in overtime vs. Orono (11-9).
Riley Johnson led with 28 points vs. Jefferson and football star Maxwell Woods shined on the hardwood with 30. Woods outdueled Orono stud Nolan Groves, who had 25. While Orono is no longer in the Power 25, it’s still a capable team that Chan should feel pleased to have vanquished.
No. 24 Mounds View (14-6)

This week’s games: Feb. 13 at Forest Lake (12-8), Feb. 15 vs. Woodbury (9-12)
Ranking rationale: It’s time for a couple new teams to shuffle into the Power 25. It starts with Mounds View, which has piled up wins against a fairly soft schedule. Nonetheless, the Mustangs are still third in the Suburban East Conference and only trail a pair of top-20 teams. Mounds View has won two in a row and three of its last four.
Last week, it won 69-58 vs. White Bear Lake (3-16). The Mustangs led 38-21 at halftime before easing up in the second half. Joey Fretheim’s 17 points paced four Mustangs in double figures. Mounds View has not lost to a team with a losing record all season.
No. 25 Robbinsdale Armstrong (12-8)
Last week’s ranking: N/R
This week’s games: Feb. 14 vs. Elk River (3-17), Feb. 16 vs. No. 18 Maple Grove (13-7)
Ranking rationale: Like every week, there were a number of worthy teams to choose from to round out the top 25. A hot hand gets the nod this week as the Falcons have rattled off five straight wins for the second time this season.
Last week featured an 87-74 win at Coon Rapids (10-10) and an 83-59 win at Minneapolis Roosevelt (9-10). Seth Newbern led all scorers with 21 points against Coon Rapids. Desmond Ware scored the same vs. Roosevelt and Navonn Fields added 20. Armstrong was in the Power 25 earlier this season thanks to a huge 90-80 neutral court win vs. current No. 10 Farmington (15-5).
