Minneota defeats Springfield in Class 1A Prep Bowl

The Vikings dominated the Tigers in the MSHSL state championship game

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minneota Vikings (14-0) defeated the Springfield Tigers (12-2) 43-22 in the Minnesota high school football Class 1A Prep Bowl on Friday at U.S. Bank Stadium. It's the Vikings ninth state title in school history and second straight championship.

Running back Ryan Meagher rushed for his first of five rushing touchdowns of the day — tying a Prep Bowl record — to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter. 

Destin Fier rushed for a touchdown, and Meagher added two more touchdowns for a 29-0 lead in the second quarter. 

Springfield scored its first touchdown of the game with 30 seconds remaining in the first half. The Tigers' quarterback Jakob Nachreiner threw a touchdown pass to Brayden Sturm to cut the lead to 29-6 at halftime. 

The Vikings and the Tigers traded touchdowns in the second half. They each scored twice, and Meagher scored both of the Vikings' second half rushing touchdowns. 

Meagher finished with 203 rushing yards.

Nachreiner led the Tigers with 214 passing yards and and three touchdowns.
