Minnesota football coach PJ Fleck at Esko game to watch 4-star commit Koi Perich

The Esko senior had two interceptions in front of the Gophers' coach

University of Minnesota head football coach P.J. Fleck stopped by Hermantown High School to watch 4-star safety commit Koi Perich on Friday night.

Perich, of Esko High School, recently jumped to the No. 163 prospect in the Class of 2024, according to 247sports.com, and he is the Gophers' top recruit in the class.

The jump in rating also makes Perich the fifth-highest recruit in Minnesota history.

But Perich recently received an offer from USC, and he told the Star Tribune that other schools continue to recruit him.

"Like Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin, a lot of others," he said. "It's pretty cool to get those schools coming to see me."

Perich plays both ways for the Eskomos. He had 339 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns with 37 tackles and two interceptions through six weeks, among other impressive stats.
