Jackson Lumen Christi defeats Menominee in MHSAA Division 7 championship

The Titans took the lead late in the third quarter and held on to win the state title

The Lumen Christi Catholic Titans (13-1) defeated the Menominee Maroons (11-3) 34-30 in the Division 7 Michigan high school football state championships on Sunday at Ford Field.

Menominee took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Landen Bardowski scored a 2-yard touchdown run, and Eli Beal threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Theuerkauf. 

The Titans dominated the third quarter. Kandale Williams ran for two touchdowns, and Timmy Crowley added another for a 21-14 Lumen Christi Catholic lead at halftime. 

Menominee took the lead in the third quarter when Theuerkauf scored on a 21-yard touchdown run. The Maroons converted the 2-point attempt for a 22-21 lead. 

Williams scored another touchdown for the Titans for a 27-22 lead, but Menominee's Isaiah Oden caught a 76-yard touchdown pass from Theuerkauf. The Maroons converted the 2-point attempt  for a 30-22 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Titans took the lead back when Gabe King caught an 11-yard pass from Crowley for a 34-30 lead with four minutes remaining.
