Clarkston evades West Bloomfield comeback in Michigan high school football showdown

The Wolves scored 25 points in the second half to pull away from the Lakers, but needed an onside kick recovery to seal it

The No. 14 Clarkston Wolves (4-2) defeated the No. 8 West Bloomfield Lakers (4-2) 44-36 Friday at Clarkston High School. 

Clarkston jumped to a 7-0 lead off a touchdown from Griffin Boman. On the first play of West Bloomfield's possession, Kamren Flowers scored on a 69-yard TD run. 

In the second quarter, Boman scored again, this time on a 2-yard touchdown run, to give the Wolves a 13-7 lead. Once again, the Lakers answered as receiver Elisha Durham caught a 22-yard TD pass from Reqez Nance for a 14-13 lead.

The Wolves took the lead 19-14 with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Desman Stephens to Brody Kosin.

Clarkston scored the first touchdown in the second half during a 99-yard drive. Quarterback Brady Collins passed to Brody Kosin for a 13-yard touchdown and a 27-14 lead.

Clarkton's Eddie Langton kicked a field goal for a 30-14 lead, and Griffen Bowman's 4-yard touchdown run gave the Wolves a 37-14 lead.

The Lakers cut into the lead with a 10-yard touchdown pass, but the Wolves extended the lead with a 36-yard touchdown run from Stephens.

West Bloomfield scored two touchdowns in quick succession thanks to an onside kick recovery. Nigel Dunton scored one of the touchdowns for the Lakers. 

Clarkston recovered the Lakers' second onside kick to seal the win.
